Griffin vs Newton

Mr. Scot

There are no comparisons. Robert Griffin III will present a combination of skill and intelligence that the NFL has never seen before. Remember: Hard work beats talent every time. But if you work hard and you're talented, it's hard to be beat.

LOL, is this before of after he turns water into wine?

Hard work + talent = :cam:

Guess we'll see at the end of the season. I've already placed bets that RG3 will win more games then Cam did in his rookie season. I also have a bet with someone here that the Redskins will beat Carolina this year so i'm confident and willing to backup my statements.

Ah the "who will win more games" bet... you realize football is a team sport, right?

So if RG3 wins more games this year than Cam did last year, it means he's a better QB?

Under this "logic" Alex Smith was a better QB in 2011 than Phillip Rivers, Eli Manning and Matthew Stafford and was just as good as Drew Brees and Tom Brady.

Awesome bet.

People saw what Cameron did last year and want their rookie QB to duplicat the feat. I can relate to that. Homerz gotta home.

Cameron is different. RG111 has the potential to be very exciting. But who the hell is afraid to tackle exciting. Conversely, who is lining up to take a shot at Cameron? That is the defining difference with Cameron. His mix of SIZE, speed, shiftiness, and athletic ability, is truly different from everone else.

If Cameron continues to amaze, he will contiue to be the measuring stick. Wow, that is the first time I have ever been able to say that about the QB for MY team. Kinda gives me goosies.

You cannot be mad at other fans for wanting their very own Cameron. Hell, for the longest time, we were them.

Looks like someone is getting wood after the Redskns won their seemingly 14th off-season championship in a row.

RGIII is fast, but his running is crap and will more than likely get him hurt. It is great to have straight line speed, but often he ran right into contact. Comparing him to Vick is insane as Vick can actually dodge tackles. RGIII is lucky he played in the no defense Big 12 instead of the SEC.

Luck will be a more effective runner than Griffin too.

Can I get in on these bets? I like free money.

Haha, let me know what's at the bottom of that kool-aid cup when you're done gulping it down.

Mage is the one that nails this discussion. RGIII can run, but he will live or die as a passer, not running the ball. He just isn't that good at it.

People put too much stock in measurables. In the 2011 combine, Gabbert nearly equaled Cam's speed and athleticism. Anyone think he can do what Cam does with his legs?

A. Rodgers, A. Luck, and RG all have good mobility, but that does not make them good runners. Luke Kuechly's 40 was the same as Cam's. You think he would be as good in the open field?

Good runners have great vision, good cutting ability, and an innate ability to anticipate what defenders are going to do.

Finally, note that RGIII is faster than DWill and JStew. They can't pass like RG but there's no doubt they are better runners.

And yes, I think RGIII will be a fine QB.

So RG3 has expressed that he doesn't want to be known as an "option quarterback" (link) which brings up a discussion that's been had on here numerous times, and generally leads to people saying stupid things.

Rehashing that discussion doesn't really interest me much. What does interest me about this particular item from the unmentionable site is this sentence from Michael David Smith.

Now, Newton and Griffin don't quite have the same athletic profile (Griffin is 3 inches shorter and 30 pounds lighter) but I'm wondering what Panther fans have to say about Smith's proclamation that there's "never been an athlete quite like Griffin". Especially as it pertains to our own quarterback.

They are two completely diffierent athletes. Plus it seems the talking heads are going all overboard with RGIII based on the same things they scorned about about. I just hope RGIII does play half way decent if not well because if he doesn't, I can see Cam getting some of that backlash.

Also, I saw RGIII on ESPN today and he's almost built like Mike Vick. He's going to need all of his athleticism to avoid receiving the same type of beating someone as small as Vick gets every season.

You don't think Rodgers is a good runner?
