Pats releasing Chad Ochocinco

to bring in ocho now is almost like when we brought in key

everyone has their opinions of course but at the time key came in we were giddy about a tall guy who could stretch the field in Carter and confident that a rookie sensation Kerry Colbert could make it back from injury. We had two young guys that we did not know much about and had high hopes for. Recruiting over them had some effect. How much? No one can ever know. It is likely that it would never have made a difference but to those who look at it logically, a lack of confidence and subsequently reps very well could have been the difference in one or both of those guys.

I am not an ocho fan but i do think he has talent and something to offer. At the same time I would hate to have the same doubts about Gettis and Lafell's careers that I initially had about Carter and Colbert's after Key was in house for a few months.

Tricky call. I do believe that if we show interest now it will be because Riv and Marty think Ocho will provide immediate upgrade.

Nothing against Chad. He doesn't fill a need. Basically, the offense runs off 1 WR, TE, RB.....and of course the one man show Cam. OL of course is a huge need. Don't need tons of WRs. What we need to do is find some defensive help when cuts start occuring and focus 100% of the little money we spend there.

Im with most of you guys. I have high hopes for Gettis/Lafell (in that order)...but i've always liked Chad and have secretly wanted him to be a Panther for a while.

I guess I would say I don't have a preference either way, but I don't think he is the locker room cancer he is depicted to be (he's no TO). I'd have no problems with us signing him.

Much like TOwens, Chad is done. It's over for him. Now go away.

I don't think Chad is done. Don't want him....but he wasn't on the field bc he was a liability not knowing/understanding a complex NE offense. He didn't play bc he lost his talent. Could be a strong #2 or slot guy in the right system if someone need a rental

I hope we get him. You can never have too many weapons and we have plenty of leaders that will keep him in check.

Chad isn't really a problem child. He just likes to be silly. He seems to be a pretty straight arrow.

you people in here that giz their britches every time espn mentions the Carolina Panthers should be all over this.

wrong or right, signing ocho is a big splash and it tells the NFL that the Panthers feel the time is now and are willing to go after the little things that only solid teams with solid depth can afford to go after.

we would be the talk of the NFL media for a week or more if we sign 85

I can understand not wanting him on the team but people here seriously hate Ochocinco?

Come on. People are going to hate the guy (out of ALL guys in the NFL to hate, such as guys who get arrested) who has fun with his fans? Who buys dinners, tickets, etc. for his fans? Ochocinco talks a lot, yeah. But he is a good guy who does a lot for his fans when he has the chance.

And do people really blame him for wanting to get out of Cincinnati? Marvin Lewis didn't even want to stay there until they changed up how they scout (IIRC, Brown didn't ever have an official scouting team in Cincy for a long time) and Palmer did whatever he could to get out.
