Tolbert came here partly because he likes the South better than California

Who doesn't love the South better?

All the Yankees that keep flocking here (yet at the same time they have no problem ripping on the south, our local teams, and our traditions like sweet tea and boiled peanuts) prove the south is where it's at. It always bugs the hell out of me when I hear neighbors, who have moved here by free will, rip the area and southerners. GTFO and quit putting a strain on our local resources, nobody invited you.

I wonder why they seem so defensive

Sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of this top shelf marijuana that was delivered & pulled pork that just fell off the bone.

Born and raised here, but never got the boiled peanuts thing. Sorry. Too slimy.

To prove my loyalty, I will go on the record as saying that that beef with red sauce that they call barbecue north of the Manson/Nixon line is ass.

Texas is South of the Mason/Dixon

I ordered a BBQ sandwich in MD once and that's what I got. Come to think of it, VA did it that way too, except with pork. Originated in Texas, though? Never knew that. Never been to TX either.

Maryland and Virginia are south of the Mason/Dixon as well :)
