Tommy Lasorda suffers mild heart attack; resting in a New York hospital

Lasorda awoke to a busy Monday feeling under the weather. He helped ring the opening bell at the NASDAQ exchange and later bused from his hotel to the MLB Network studios in Secaucus, N.J. for the amateur draft, where he would represent the Dodgers. Friends noted Lasorda lacked his usual energy and, indeed, had broken into a sweat during the bus ride.

At others' urging, Lasorda rested in a conference room at the television studio. Paramedics were summoned after a short period. When Lasorda showed high blood pressure, his cardiologist – Dr. Tony Reid – was notified. (Lasorda suffered a heart attack in 1996, when he was forced to step down in his 21st season as Dodgers manager. A pacemaker was implanted last summer.)

An iconic figure in Los Angeles, Lasorda won 1,599 games and two World Series championships in 21 seasons as Dodgers manager. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997.

"The doctors confirmed I do bleed Dodger Blue," Lasorda said in a statement released by the club. "I'm looking forward to being back at the stadium to cheer on the Dodgers."

Dude that's so fugged up it's not even funny...

Thank God Tommy is healthy and able to watch his boys play live tonight.

      Qbs aren't defined by physical abilities. Brady, Brees, Manning, Montana, Warner,.....doesn't seem to correlate.

      Corbett might not be gone

      If we are going to spend the money anyway, maybe the signing is not as bad as it seems.  Mays outperformed Corbett (before his injury and if you go back to last year, Corbett has been below average) and then Christensen took the job and Mays quickly took it from him and never looked back.  He could use improvement reaching to the next level (LBs) but picking up stunts and blitzes---he was surprisingly good.  Run blocking needs some work, but he is 25.  Corbett, in my view, should be G/C depth and if Mays steps back, he is there.  Mays should start because this team is building for the future and 30 year old players are not building blocks.  We shall see.  That is how I think about it, but there are many factors we do not know. Having said that, I like what Zavala is doing, and I do not want to bring in someone who would take opportunities away from him.  Zavala was really good at RG down the stretch, and in limited duty, was awesome. In fact, we have a guard from the PS who played briefly and did well, but he only played a few plays.  He is 25 and I recall that fans of his former team were upset when we signed him.   Maybe as the backup center only (Corbett).  You need 2 centers to run practices efficiently.  I cannot say enough about the OL coaches on this staff.  What they have done is overshadowed by the Lewis / Hunt signing.  Mays, Ekwonu, Zavala--impressive growth.
