Way-Too-Early 2009 Standings Predictions

Recommended Posts

Not very good. 7-9 would actually be an accomplishment with this brutal schedule, an underacheiving defense, and a 34 year old washed up QB.

break it down for me...i'll help you out:

1 - vs. Philadelphia Eagles

2 - at Atlanta Falcons

3 - at Dallas Cowboys

4 - Bye

5 - vs. Washington Redskins

6 - at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

7 - vs. Buffalo Bills

8 - at Arizona Cardinals

9 - at New Orleans Saints

10 - vs. Atlanta Falcons

11 - vs. Miami Dolphins

12 - at New York Jets.

13 - vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

14 - at New England Patriots

15 - vs. Minnesota Vikings

16 - at New York Giants

17 - vs. New Orleans Saints

for the record i see the panthers going

3-1 v. AFCE

2-2 v. NFCE

4-2 v. NFCS

1-1 v. minny/AZ

is this not possible?

Anything is "possible". I dont think 10-6 is probable though.

I see us going

2-2 vs AFCE

1-3 vs NFCE

3-3 vs NFCS

1-1 vs Minny/AZ

one has just as much chance as the other. you have too much faith in the strength of the NFCE and especially the AFCE and too little in the panthers. call it realistic and "unbiased" if you want but it is small minded and afraid of realizing the strength and potential of this team in spite of what people call a "tough" schedule.

I think that some "FANS" don't realize that just because you have a tough schedule does not mean you will not perform to your potential. If you are better than the other team, you will probably win. It doesn't matter that you played the Patriots or the Vikings last week or that you're going to play in Atlanta next week. All that matters is how you perform on a given day.

That is your opinion and I can respect that. But I also think its small minded to overlook the fact that the panthers had the 10th easiest schedule in the league last year and had very few injuries. That had EVERYTHING to do with why they went 12-4 last year. I think it would be foolish to overlook this brutal schedule. Like it or not the NFCE and AFCE will be very though this year and the fact that we have an aging washed up QB leading this team against them is really scarey. It would also be really foolish to overlook the fact that this team has NEVER had back to back winning seasons. Hopefully that will change but I wouldnt count on it this year. I hope what you predict is correct and that the panthers do go 10-6. But I wouldnt put any money on that if I were you. Unfortunately 7-9 is far more realistic than 10-6 for this season.

AFCE- lose to the pats, there's no reason we shouldn't beat the jets, bills, and dolphins

NFCE-NFCE isn't any stronger than the NFCS so splitting the games against them is very likely

NFCS- the bucs are gonna have a down year. we split the series the saints and falcons

minny/AZ- well be looking for revenge against both these teams. no way we lose both. very likely we win both. splitting the series is a very safe guess

i think 10-6 is very probable
