Trolling takes more than saying PFF a whole lot.

Godfrey and Martin are both corners trying to play S.... neither are good. Martin at times has shown good coverage ability and Godfrey on occasion can lay the wood.

Neither are good. We need Safties.

Godfrey isn't good. He is a tremendous athlete (probably top 5ish on our D) who can't play S.

Saying Godfrey sucks isn't trolling. Saying he is good is homerism.

He's improved every season, I can live with that. Godfrey has been asked IMO to do a lot, especially last year with no pass rush, and very poor run defense up front the majority of the season.

Not only is he having to cover longer (due to limited rush), I'd be willing to bet he's pressing the issue in run support hampering his coverage responsibilities trying to compensate for the lackluster run defense we fielded last season. The same could be said about Martin as well, now bad angles and missed/poor tackling is something a good coach can help cure.

As much as I liked Ron Meeks, he seemed to be geared more to coverage, so it would leave one to wonder about his ability to coach up run support in comparison to other coaches. But based on our previous Cov 2 scheme, and also having a healthier front seven I'd have to look into how often our safeties were left one on one in the open field.

Still though for Godfrey it's hard to get past this one moment...

PFF has flaws....doesn't make them worthless.

Godfrey is ranked 79th bc he is horrible. Doesn't mean everything about there evaluation is perfect on him. He consistatly ranks there for a reason.

To anyone who really wants to see the real truth about our Safetys I would suggest paying for NFL rewind. Its worth the money and you get to see the real film not someones opinion.

Again, just bc he has gotten burnt doesn't mean coverage isnt where he showed his potential. Looking at his collective body of work isn't ignoring years when discussing a young player. Martin's strength is coverage. He may suck but that has been the best part of his game.

I have been discussing Godfrey's play since 2008. There is no article I just read. My opinion has been forming and been discussed for years here. I was over at PFF picking up a stat....his career high in missed tackles (which you stated he rarely does)

I watch Godrey like a hawk. He has had moments and he has talent....he just isn't a good NFL S.
