Assuming a salary cap of about $60 mil next season, the max contract the bobcats could offer either Hibbert or Gordon is 4 years $64 million (about 16/year).

Thats maybe a little pricey for Gordon, but I would do it for either player. This would be a good time to do it since any rookie we draft this year or next year would be on a rookie contract for the next 4 years anyways, so its not like this deal would hurt the team's ability to re-sign anyone important

No way in hell I'd give Eric Gordon 4 year 64 million.

Oh he's certainly not worth it, but given the fact that the bobcats have no important players to re-sign in the near future and have a bunch of cap space, I would rather overpay Gordon by $3 or 4 million a year then spend that money on 2 or 3 mediocre free agents. To me, it worth overpaying if you can land a serious piece you can build around. Who else are you going to find in free agency to build around? If the bobcats dont use that cap space they get nothing out of it, and I dont think you will find better players to spend it on in the next couple of years

No reason to waste money because your desperate that's when teams make bad deals and stay bad longer. He would want more then 3 or 4 mil a year and his talent doesn't rate him getting more. He's a short SG who can score but is a serious liability on the defensive end.
