What about a fair weather fan? To me, they are like groupies and "friends" who stay with you as long as they are getting financial benefits because of it, but when the money dries up, they dry up. Sorry, it's not cool to me. It's kind of like you laugh and smile with them, but you always have an eye on them. :P

I have been a fan since the beginning. Went to the games at Clemson. Still have my ticket stub for the 1st win in franchise history somewhere at the house. I also went to Auburn, so watching those games, I knew Cam was special, and actually hoped that Carolina would get the chance to draft him. I feel very lucky, that my college team won a national championship, the QB for that team won the Heisman, and then said QB gets drafted by my NFL team.

The Panthers have been the only NFL team I've ever pulled for. I'm a NC native and born in '84 so yeah there ya go.

But anyone that pulls for Carolina on Sunday is alright with me.

I'm a long time Auburn fan that became a Panthers fan because of Cam. I'm not afraid to admit it. I have never had any allegiance to any NFL team. I live in south Alabama (near Mobile) where everyone is a Saints** fan with a few Falcons guys here and there. I've always disliked the Saints** and the dirty ass city they call home. I didn't really get into NFL when I was younger but I started watching during the 2009 postseason and now it's a full blown hobby. I tried to pick a favorite team during the beginning of the 2010 season, but that's actually a pretty hard thing to do when you didn't grow up loving a particular team.

So about halfway into the season I was just like "Fug it. I'll just see where Cam ends up and that will be my team." And I've since fallen in love with everything about this team. I followed every game last year even though, only about 4 games were televised in my area (Saints** x2, @ Falcons and Titans). I even got to see them at the Superdome on Week 17. I've been lurking on the huddle since the postseason and this thread finally got me to post, so thanks to the OP for giving me a chance to put in my two cents.

Oh, and there's no doubt that I will continue to support this Carolina team from here on out, with or without the guy that helped bring my Auburn TIgers their first NC in over 50 years.

Kind of not on topic but I had to go to the Lake Charles NO area in Dec 09 for work. I have only missed one Panther game since 01 and I did not plan on missing us playing the Bucs, no matter how bad of a game it was going to be. I found the one place in the city with Sunday ticket - a Chilis. I went and asked them to put on the Panthers game, to which they obliged. I even tried to pick the most inconspicuous table in a corner and asked to put it up there. It was right at kickoff when I arrived. Slowly a crowd started forming and yelling "Why aren't you showing the Saints** game (they were playing the Skins and were undefeated at that time (I think). Apparently they had only one satellite receiver in the restaurant. A few people were at the bar asking the waitress to turn it, she then pointed at me and said he requested the Panthers game. THE WHOLE DAMN RESTAURANT turned and looked at me, I immediately stood up and said turn it. “My fault thought you could play more than one game.” The Saints** fans were absolutely rude as hell towards me so I asked for my food to go and got the hell out of there. Thus began my hatred towards the Saints** and their fans. And what the hell kind of restaurant that advertises the Sunday ticket with only one receiver? I did get back to the hotel in time to tune in to a radio broadcast online of the Panthers game.

Yes, I love me some Cam Newton, but I have been a Panthers fan since before Charlotte was officially awarded the franchise. But, I find it kinda funny that there are so many new usernames that have Cam in them. There are of course the coattail Auburn fans---who I am not trying to hate on because Cam Newton's physical abilities, talent, and personality (fake smile and all, LOL) are so infectious that it's hard not to follow the guy---who have become Huddlers because of Cam.

All you "Cam" username people, Auburn guys, and general Cam followers are you simply a Cam fan, or are you a Panthers fan? Are you just a Cam person or Auburn person who will leave once Cam leaves, or have you developed an actual affinity for the Carolina Panthers after one year? Do you leave yourself open to following the Panthers for life as a result of Cam Newton being here? What's your deal?

Lastly, Huddlers who have been Panthers fans, what do you think about this influx of Newtonites? Do you appreciate them? Do you think that there is something disingenuous and not quite right about someone becoming a Huddler simply because of Newton, or posing as a Panthers fan because Newton is Carolina's QB?

I am only here to watch Cam.. I had a dream back in 1995 that this was going to happen, all I had t do was wait..

The 1st Panther game I watched was the week3 loss to StLouis in 95. I was workin on a tugboat and that was the only game I could tune on the rabbit ears. I got home that day & told my Mom Carolina was my new team, I am still a Raider fan, always will be. I jumped on early, going into year2 I was hollerin Panthers all the way to the NFCCG, even had somebody call me a bandwagoner "only pullin for them cus theyre winning" and a few friends told him how wrong he was. I havent looked back, not all into it like most of you down there, I dont have to opportunity to go like yous did/do. I do, however, sport as much Panther gear as I can up here in 'Skins country, and have since day 1, or week3, depending on how you look at it...
