Looks like Hurney has been trying to sign Stewart to an extension all along.

since we've got some rampant speculation on the contracts for DWill and CJ, here are the numbers:

DWill:

7/29/2011: Signed a five-year, $43 million contract. The deal contains $21 million guaranteed, including a $16 million signing bonus and $5 million of Williams' second-year base salary. 2012: $5.25 million, 2013: $4.75 million, 2014: $5.75 million, 2015: $6.75 million, 2016: Free Agent

CJ:

7/29/2011: Signed a six-year, $76 million contract. The deal contains $32 million guaranteed, including a $30 million signing bonus. 2012: $4.75 million, 2013: $6.75 million, 2014: $8.75 million, 2015: $9.75 million, 2016: $10.75 million, 2017: Free Agent

That is comparable to the hometown discount line....NFL players don't do that. Just like you wouldn't take a pay cut at your job

To compare taking a pay cut at the NFL level and blue collar level is apples to oranges. Read the Tolbert report? There is only so much money you can spend, most people understand that if you like where you are and are happy with the people you work with why change it? Don't get me wrong, there are players that would bolt for that extra million. Let them.

Not just blue collar.....white collar....any job. Tolbert didn't take less money so someone else could get it. Tolbert was looking out for Tolbert....putting himself in the best scenario for him and his family. That meant a paycut for the moment.

NFL players are looking out out for themselves...too often people spout of these guys doing x and y for the good of the team. Rarely happens.

Oh, and I guarantee you DWill would restructure his contract to accommodate Jstew. I'd bet your left nut on it.

DWill will do what benefits him and his family the most.....like 99% of players.

Im sure he wants to stay but I just dont see how the numbers will work out. He should be paid like a starting RB and he want get it here. Dwill's contract is unfortunate because Stewart is just as good and younger.
