Jimmy Clausen Showing Improvement?

We all know the absurd circumstances from 2010. It's history though, no sense thinking what could have been. We need to get what we can for clausen or just cut him, this year. That's a roster spot that could be used elsewhere, he didn't even dress last year. No matter how jimmy turns out, his career here was doomed from the start.

Yup let's cut that third string QB who isn't earning much. Let's replace him with some other third string QB who won't earn much but doesn't know the playbook.

You have to have three QBs. We've learnt the risk of carrying two in the past.

I say support him. The better he becomes, the better our team will be for the forseeable future. You never can be to deep at quarterback. If you are deep at QB you end up having some great trade pieces. (i.e...Philadelphia)

I don't wish bad on him certainly.. But he is too small, and doesn't have the instincts to overcome it (i.e. Brees) He will never be a good pocket passer in this league, or play maker in general..

You are so telling the truth..Didn't Texas prove that last season when they had to go three deep with their QB? And he help them go 9 straight until they played u guys.

I wouldn't necessarily say he had a better o-line, but the kid did get happy feet a lot.

What Jimmy can and can't do is total speculation. We have never seen him operate a real pro offense.

It is quite obvious he lacks the ability to push the ball down the field with consistency. That is why he never tried it. He has a weak arm. That was known at Notre Dame when he threw floaters to Floyd and Tate but it wasn't brought up as much because they bailed him out. His limited skillset is why he fell to the mid 2nd round. He's just not that good.

Heck, if you just watched him play, Clausen himself will tell you he doesn't have an NFL arm because he checks down so much. Or just look at the two numbers I think are telling. QBs with a low Y/C usually have a high completion percentage. QBs with a high Y/C sometimes have a low completion percentage (or are just that good). Clausen not only barely completed 50% of his throws but he had the worst Y/C in the league. His numbers were the worst the league has ever seen for a QB with enough starts (around 10-12) since Akili Smith. Clausen was trash in 2010. So lets end with the "he didn't get a fair shake," "we never saw him in a real offense," etc. stuff. Maybe that is true. But it still doesn't change the fact he sucked.

The best we could get for Clausen is a 7th round pick if we're lucky. Teams didn't even want him when he was in the draft, when he hadn't proven he sucked yet. Now that he has shown he does suck, I don't see how we could expect to get anything out of him barring him looking like Brady in garbage time.

Until his contract expires or if we draft another QB. We have our franchise QB, we have a vet who is very familiar with Chud. I'm not sure what you guys are hoping to achieve with the third QB on the roster...

We don't have a QB at #2 with potential. We need to be grooming potential with our QB depth.... Clausen doesn't fit the scheme.

Anderson fits the scheme but has very very little potential going forward. Need to be grooming and finding a guy to replace Anderson

To me it does not make much sense for him to be here.I think a team with a west coast offense would make better sense.I do wonder though how much he he could have been if Chud was his OC and Shula as qb coach?
