hell batman's rogue gallery is filled with villains that are better than anything marvel has to offer

Marvel has way better event story arcs. Avengers Disassembled, Secret War, Secret Invasion, House of M, Avengers vs. X-Men, Fear Itself, etc are all good stories but Marvels biggest strength is crossover titles. DC relies more on single character titles but those characters have quite a few different titles. I mean, Batman has like 4 different books right now.

Both companies have hit and miss titles but it mostly falls on the strength of the writers. Ed Brubaker and Rick Rememder do some incredible work at Marvel and Geoff Johns and Grant Morrison are doing equally good things at DC. Individual characters will always have certain traits but it really falls on those writers to make them characters worth reading about. I don't care what your opinion is of the X-Men, Joss Wheedon's stint on Astonishing X-Men is something a true comic fan has to read. It's all about the writers.
