No Anthony Davis For Charlotte, Now What?

I officially am lobbying for Anthony Davis to hold out. Does anybody look at Eli and Kobe in a bad light because they demanded trades? If you want to come to Charlotte AD act now not after you've been in the bourbon soaked streets of NO for four or five years going absolutely no where! Give New Orleans #2 and the pick of our roster. I think the Bobcats discussed moving up in 2004. If they knew what we know now they should have gave any and everything for Dwight Howard.

You've already stripped your roster down to nothing anyway. You may as well start all over with a star player who WANTS to be in Charlotte. We need a guy like that who wants to be in our community and won't look to bolt for a couple more dollars.

Anthony, holding out doesn't do anything to hurt your image in the long run and the guys who have done it have been very successful. Think about it! Make your family happy!

It may cost us Biyombo or DJ or both, I don't know, but what if this franchise would have started with a super star like Dwight Howard?

Lol that's wishful thinking.

No way that's going to happen.

Davis is just trying to say the right thing. He's happy that he may be going to NO. He's not going to die for Charlotte. If any, he'd hold out for either Washington or Cleveland where they have a legit PG.

And I think MJ and Cho won't die if they didn't get AD.

Craziest thing I heard so far.

Yeah Chuck, everybody is running to play for New Orleans. Chris Paul ran out of there and wasted some of his best years in NO going nowhere.

You are right in the sense that no player is THAT valuable so why wouldn't NO listen to offers? When a guy wants to play somewhere they put their heart and soul into it night in and night out and take ownership of a team instead of abandoning it.

I don't see it as an impossible scenario. That's just my opinion. The #2 pick is also worth something

What are you talking about?

Whoever said everyone wanna play for NO?

Charlotte is probably the last place any veterans, especially star players would want to play for. Yes, ofcourse everyone puts in their heart in soul for their team. But as we have seen recently, every players wanna team up with other stars and play for a big city. CP3 sure did play his heart out in NO but what happen in the end? He left for the big city.

The NBA now is not like the NFL, where players will sign with any teams (small or big market). NFL players do this bc it's hard to get a long term contract so they take the first oppurtunity they can. This is why you see guy like VJax signing with Tampa, a poor team last year. Even better, use Osi as a better example. He's in the big apple, won two SB and he were pondering for a trade. This is not going to happen in the NBA. Ex: Hibbert is never going to sign with us when he can take the same or maybe even a bit less money to stay in Indiana. It's not just bc we're a small market but bc every NBA players know how bad we are at the moment. Everyone loves MJ and know that he's probably the best player ever in the history of basketball. Also, MJ sponsor guys like Melo and CP3, and they still won't come play for him. So yah it's not that easy.

That scenario with AD holding out to play for Charlotte is not going to happen. Let me know when pigs fly.

And the no.2 pick doesn't worth anything when you're NO holding the first pick to draft AD and you're dumb enough to trade it away.

If Robinson could play SF I'd go with him, but as of now he's just an undersized PF which we're stacked at for the moment. I wouldn't be the least bit upset if he were to be the pick, but we're just so stacked at PG, SG, and PF to draft another one of those non-needed guys.

Gilchrist may be the safest and most sensible pick, but god damn will this season suck major balls for the Bobcats if our offensive front court consists of DJ, Hendo, MKG, Biyombo/White, Mullens.

I just can't stomach that, but it appears that's going to be the case.

Had we not have drafted Biyombo last year I'd be hyped for Robinson.

Ive seen other people mention this- how tall is Robinson? He always looked pretty big to me at KU, and I thought he was a little taller than the Morris bros

unofficially listed at 6'9 without shoes 6'10 with them.

Robinson is definitely the most versatile players in this draft though. He's just no sure thing at wherever he's plugged.

Folks see Jefferson, Brewer, Malone, and Boozer in this guy. Wouldn't be too opposed to being stuck with that.

But Tyrus would be an immediate cut and Biyombo would be forced to log in major minutes as a center for him to get PT because no way in hell is this team getting rid of White.

Sort of unrelated, but how in the hell would changing their name back to the Hornets make any kind of difference? It's not the same team or ownership and it sure as hell isn't the trick to winning games.

I don't care what they're called, until they win some games no one is going to watch that crap.

I can certainly understand your point but "Charlotte Hornets" merchandise still makes a good chunk of money for the NBA, I've seen a lot of it around town and nationally to this day. I had a buddy come to town and we're talking about the draft and he refers to the team as the Hornets.

Somebody on FNZ actually had a good idea. They said Alexander Julian should redo the new Charlotte Hornet jersey if this ever went down. A caller called in and said he "met her at a Hornets game and divorced her in the Bobcat era".

It's about history and pride.

I thought of it after the draft and Bonnell joked about that same subject and gave Davis advice on how it should go down.

My main point is that there is actually a potential NBA superstar that really wants to play for your team and who's family really wants him to play for Charlotte. I've NEVER heard such a thing from ANY prospect or superstar EVER!

Somebody in Charlotte needs to see that as the perfect storm and at least make a call. They are more likely to listen to somebody with the #2 pick. You want a player that wants to be in your city. This guy actually came out publicly and said so on the Dan Patrick show. He said his family was very upset that he wasn't going to Charlotte. That's an open door if I've ever seen one.

AD would be open to that trade and we have the #2 pick and some good pieces on our roster. Impossible?! No. Improbable? Maybe. The will to make it happen has to be there and AD showed his cards very early. The rest is up to MJ and NO fortunately, not you or I.

Davis' family wanted him to play here. Davis wanted to come here also bc of having friends here. Like I said before, AD is just trying to say the right thing. Why wouldn't he. He's the consensus no.1 player and pretty much is up for two teams to pick him right now. Unless NO has told him he'll be their pick, right now it's best for AD to still say he wants to come play here.

If everything is like what Cho has been preaching about building through the draft, no way they will invest their future for AD.

But no way is Davis crying and pouching that he doesn't wanna play for NO.
