Quick Tidbit From Otas

Recommended Posts

If anyone was wondering, with Edwards sitting out, the first team DTs were neblett and fua with kearse rotating in. There was no mention of McClain

@josephperson: Neblett and Fua, with Kearse rotating in. RT @TheJackFinney @josephperson Do you know who ran with the 1st team at DT in OTAs last week?

Is Edwards ever going to see the field damn, not injury prone till he got here of course

That's what happens when you invest in old players.

Improbable off the wall thought...perhaps Edwards is a June 1st cut and they don't want him to participate without reason.

Saying this with no idea about the structure of his contract.

Again, just a random thought.

Edwards is a vet, and he might not need as much reps as the young bucks, I wouldn't read too much into it. I think that RR is taking it easier on the guys that were injured, so it will give him more time to develop the young guys, while not putting to much strain on the old ones...

This is close to how I see it. The kids need the mental reps they missed last year. I can see Rivera going young, and hoping the kids step up. But, if Edwards does go. How do we, or do we even bother to, replace him? Would Rivera even bring in a vet? Unless something falls into our lap, which is not going to happen, never does, never will, we may be who we are going to be at this time where it comes to DT.

Just another area to keep an eye on. We may not have the bestest talent yet. But it sure feels good to see that the overall depth is improving. If the DTs play as expected, by me and whomever else believes they have it in them, we should be able to allow Rivera do run the Defense he really wants to run.

Rivera may love him some LBs. But his D needs quality tackle play to be truly successful.

Still giddy for the future. And GOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the overriding perception is that we are terrible but I honestly think we will surprise and will see more productivity from Fua nd McClain. They simply will not be as bad as last year. With a veteran presence they will most likely excel.

That said, please call me out if I am calling for Rivera's head in week 2 for not getting a competent DT.

DT is definitely our weakness on the D. We have a lot of "serviceable" guys but I don't really see any of them stepping up to become a stud. But with our LBs and our underrated DEs; we'll make up for mediocre DT play . We'll be a top half defense, 11-14 IMO barring injury. Which I think is good enough to make a playoff run, but I think 2013 is our year to be complete contenders.

In Ron we trust
