A New Era For The Bobcats? Can It Happen Tonight?

The Bobcats are just a couple of lottery picks away from becoming a good team. Jordan just has to draft well like young teams like OKC and others did. I heard from a lot of people that they feel Brady Beal SG from Flordia will become the best player in this draft.

I like Bradley Beal a lot too. I would definitely take him if we cant get AD, he reminds me of Eric Gordon and Ray Allen. Scoring is definitely what the cats need.

I've become more of a Beal fan recently. He seems the most NBA ready if we don't end up with the top pick.

Duncan tested free agency in the early 2000's. He nearly went to the Magic along with Grant Hill and Tracy McGrady (would've been the first Big 3). Duncan said his decision hinged on whether the city approved the construction of a new arena for the Spurs as the Alamodome had become outdated. They did, and the Spurs now play in the newer AT&T Center, but even after winning a title Duncan contemplated leaving.

He didn't really test free agency he said that unless the city approved the construction he would test free agency and consider going elsewhere. When they didn't jump on it, he started testing the waters to let them know he was serious. By making the demand public he was essentially holding them over the barrel. That was not the same thing as testing free agency in a serious way like James did. As for contemplating leaving, most of that is a bargaining strategy to get concessions or more money whether you intend to leave or not. The Spurs are notorious for being hard negotiators so every player usually has to threaten with whatever leverage they can muster in order to get a fair deal. Duncan could have asked and gotten whatever he wanted money wise at some point but didn't.

This reinforces my point.... Yeah it is bleacher report but it is actually a decent article.

I hope we do get the #1 pick. And I hope Davis can be our "Cam" and make our city and fanbase "progress" even further.

Keep believing in and supporting our Bobcats

Please explain to me how drafting Anthony Davis will make the city of Charlotte progress....

It would help it grow into a real NBA city, and not just a second hand college bball town. Much like Cam made us a REAL football town where everyone is in tune with the Panthers. Even when they dont win.

Pie for the attempt to pull something out of your ass. So what was the city when Hornets games were selling out and everyone was excited about the hive?? Was that not a real NBA city. One player isn't going to make fans support the team for the long term, they still have to win. Unless you think Anthony Davis turns this team into a contender by himself, people will be just as apathetic about the Bobcats as they were this year. This team is much further then an "Anthony Davis" from being a legitimate contender. Fans don't care about names, they care about wins, and banners....Anthony Davis isn't doing that on his own in Charlotte....

The excitement for the Hive didnt last, which is why I dont consider this a REAL NBA city. This is a second hand college bbball/NASCAR town. And people's loyalty reflects that. There was never a period in Charlotte where people stopped caring about UNC-Duke or Nascar. Hornets cant say the same.

Davis is viewed as a franchise guy, he could generate intersest much like Gerald Wallace did here. Charlotte is not LA so I dont know why you're coming with this "fans only care about banners" mess. Is that why you blow the Panthers? Cuz of all their wins and banners?

The excitement for the Heat after they won their title 7 years ago didn't last either till LeBron decided he needed to be a sidekick to win a ring. So is Miami a real NBA city???

Also what I meant was that big names may peak interest for awhile but if you're not putting yourself in a position to win games, and compete for the playoffs/championships then people are going to stop caring as much....not really sure why that's hard to understand, if fans don't feel their team has a chance to win games, they're going to stop caring after awhile....

I agree. Davis could spark something for the Cats here. I'm praying for the #1 pick tonite.
