Anthony Davis Hate?

Recommended Posts

So we get the no.1 pick.

I am hearing a ton of Anthony Davis hate and this confuses me.

I think most of it is Tarhell vs Wildcat hate.. ACC fans are such they only watch ACC games and wait for highlights for other teams.

Then they watch one or two tourney games and make judgements about one's total games.

He has a great skill set and has the best anticipation on defense I have seen. He can shoot when willing, has great touch and passing skills. Dominant shotblocker and rebounder. Why would you want any other player?

Simply put as one I saw live he is easily in another stratsophere in this draft. Sure he is skinny..but so are most nba players..and he is only a sophmore. He can develop quickly into a good to above avg offensive player. I think he can be a Kevin Garnett type player sooner than later..we can get a guard or scorer later.

I seriously hope that Tarheel fans are not dumb enough to delude themselves into thinking Barnes, Zeller, or Marshall will be better than Davis. I distinctly remember how many of them told me that Felton would be a better pro than Chris Paul.

I don't think that at all. I do think that if the bobcats don't get the first or second pick, they need to trade down and take KM.

PS Felton should have never been traded away from Charlotte. Bad for both parties.

they'll probably draft Marshall anyways because they love to draft PGs. Unless Barnes is still on the board. No way MJ passes on his boy.

Barnes will be drafted on potential alone. I don't think he'll have the kind of career that he is expecting to have, unless he actually starts caring and shows some heart and hussle on the court. dude can shoot and play when he wants to. That being said, if the Charlotte team wins the lottery and doesn't pick Anthony Davis, they just need to check the entire organization into rehab.

Barnes will be lucky to duplicate a Corey Magette career. I just dont see it..his cap is sean Elliot but Sean Elliot was developed by the time he was a rookie.

Barnes not being able to create his own shot off the dribble is going to kill him and the team that overdrafts him.

Exactly.

This past season REALLY showed Barnes weaknesses in his game. Not a good ball handler and can't create his own shot. I have strong reservations that he will ever be a top flight NBA player.

I am a big UNC fan and would be VERY pissed if we picked him....no matter what our draft position is. He has bust written all over him.

We didn't trade him, he signed with the Knicks as a free agent. He actually was working out well there in D'antoni's system before they shipped him to Denver in the Carmelo trade.

the Bobcats have just never had the Lottery fall their way. They have always missed out on the guy by one pick and blew it bypassing Danny Grainger for May.

Then passing on a few guys for Morrison who was flashing signs of I wont do it in the pros!

Bobcats, or future Hornets will be fine if there is a defined plan. I just dont see the plan if we keep signing journeymen and undersized players at every position.

    • be kind of hard with us going undefeated the rest of the year. yeah...i said it.
    • I don't think it's necessarily selfless to make that trade. I think it's all in how you plan and if you can objectively view the player. You know you're going to have a new coach and be taking a QB in the draft. Whether or not he wanted to admit it, we were going to be beginning a rebuild with a new offense and new defense. Depending on the coach, Burns may not have even been a good fit for the scheme that coach wanted to run.  So, if you're not 1st, you're going to need to trade up. Burns likely is going to want in the 30m per year range. While an effective pass rusher, he was never a complete DE. He wasn't a JJ, TJ, Bosa, or Garrett. He was more Reddick, and while good, never going to be in that top tier contract caliber.  So the question becomes, knowing that you need a QB to go with a new coach, is it better to have your  23, 24 and 25' 1sts  extra 24 and 25 1sts an extra 23'2nd  and 30m aav of future contract cap space to get a QB and edge rusher  Or your 23, 24 and 25 1sts and a good, but not elite DE on an elite tier contract.  6 picks and available 30m AAV in cap space vs 3 picks and 0 extra cap space to get a QB and a good, not great, DE.  To me that is a simple answer and frankly one that could potentially save my job. You have to have vision and be able to recognize value. Fitts over valued Burns like many fans did. I think ultimately what cost him his job was 3 years of not being able to value players correctly. We saw it twice in the draft in 2 separate years when he panicked and couldn't read the draft. DJ Johnson and Matt Corral picks specifically come to mind.  I don't think it was about being selfless as much as being a strategist. Neither Rhule nor Fitts never struck me as very strategic guys. I think they were more let's throw poo at the wall and see what sticks. Unfortunately for the fans, none of it stuck, but it still all stunk.
    • The issue is the formula is secret, and it incorporates runs... So... Yup, it does. Same with PFF (which isn't quite as secret). But when it doesn't - like on Sunday - it's often to hilarious results. PFF is more reliable I think at matching my 'eye' test.
