Cam Newton: "i Was A Bad Teammate Last Year."

I may be the only one here, but I dislike this.  Agreed he needs to mature but I do not want him thinking "I'll get it on the next play"  Thats a road to mediocrity.

I don't think that's the mentality he's taking, only that he can't let the last series affect how he plays the next one. If you focus on your mistakes you change how you play the game, and that really is a road to mediocrity.

Ever been to reddit's /r/nfl? They manage a community of 50,000 (FIFTY THOUSAND) subscribers and trolls are almost non-existent, despite being a community of the ENTIRE NFL. It's neither hard nor too much to ask, and anyone who buys the excuse that trolls will figure out a way to troll has no clue how many tools are available to the mods (I know, I write the software that runs these freaking boards.)

I get what you're saying, but the only reason he's saying poo like he does is to get people worked up. His (and others) comments add NOTHING to the discussion, so I ignore them... there's literally no point in responding to him or others like him. I can't make the mods do anything and you can't either... but do you really want them banning people just because they say things we don't like? That's a fine line to walk...

You can get mad at him if you want... I just laugh at him and continue with the discussion.

Cam is the man, he's acting like a leader, I love it. We will only get better.

I could care less if he says things I don't like, but adding nothing to the discussion, or bringing in irrelevant attacks is a perfect example of the kind of thing that shouldn't be tolerated in a message board. There's a difference between saying the following (for example):

Cam had a bad attitude a lot last year. I hope he learns from it because I got tired of seeing the towel on the head and moping.
which I don't agree with but can understand as an opinion that is relevant to the topic, and this:
Matt Moore is better. He has less turnovers. I hate Cam. I like Moore.
Which is both factually incorrect, written specifically to draw ire, and is irrelevant to the topic being discussed. The first is fine, the second should get your pathetic ass BANNED.

As for those who say that talking about it means nothing, you couldn't be more wrong. Anyone who is familiar with the world of intentionality knows that the first step to changing a behavior is first acknowledging what the issue is, publicly taking responsibility and stating what is going to be different. By making it public you are establishing a much different level of accountability which now people will hold you to since you declared your intentions in a public form.

He could have decided to change his behavior and not say a thing about it in the event he changed his mind or failed to be his word, no one would have known. But doing it like he did, he upped the accountability a hundred fold and increased the likelihood he will follow through on his commitment. So putting it into words was a big deal in and of itself.

Who keeps bringing up Matt Moore anyways? Its like ever time TRD makes a comment the 1st thing out of a Panther fans mouth is "well, Matt Moore sucks." Bringing up Matt Moore or the Dolphins or even the Redskins (in my case) after every post adds nothing to the conversation at hand. Dam sooo who are the trolls you speak of??

Anyone who has played sports at any kind of level knows what he talking about. You are never perfect and instead of worrying about past mistakes you have to put that out of your mind and prepare for the next opportunity. It is about getting it back on the next play but that is not mediocrity, it is recognizing that you have to play as hard as you can at the highest level you can for 60 minutes. You don't give up or get down while there is still a chance to win.

Actually you and TRD brought it on yourselves by taking swipes at the Panthers every chance you get while extoling the virtues of other teams or their players. There are other posters on here that are fans of other teams that don't get the grief that you do. You have been a troll on numerous occasions so you can cut the "woe is me" act.

"taking swipes" and telling it like it is are to different things. I try to speak as little as possible on the subject of my favorite team. If i wanted to speak of them i would be on a different board entirely. I can look around the rest of the NFL and give props to deserving players with no problem. Its not a shot at the Panthers. Patting Andy Dalton on the back for a job well done isn't a poke in the eye of Cam. Oh and "woe is me" is not in my vocabulary, i don't bitch and whine when someone types a difference of opinion.

Great article, and hats off to Cam for continuing to recognize and improve on his weaknesses. This approach is what is needed to be not only good, but a head above everyone else.

As for the trolls, as someone else pointed out, they are the gnats of the Huddle. For whatever reason, the admins choose to allow it, so let them continue with their pathetic little contributions while the rest of the world ignores them.

Perhaps if no one responded, the admins would understand that most don't want to see the Huddle turn into a series of juvenile pissing matches, and perhaps they would take their role more seriously in the future.
