Brandon Hogan Concedes He's Still Not 100%

Recommended Posts

All I want to know is if he was saying the same thing in the weeks leading up to the draft. If so, fine. If he led FO to believe something different as far as his rehab is concerned then I have a problem with it.

Of course we will never know.

Uh, he had surgery 4 months before the Panthers picked him, so I'm pretty sure they knew it was a problem. Yes, I'm being sarcastic.

He had surgery for an ACL tear in December of 2010, and we drafted him in April of 2011.

Rivera and the rest of the team need to know if he can play, you can't sit him. He has not shown that he can get it done in the NFL.

Sit him for OTA's and Capt. will win the job no doubt.

He could still win the job in training camp. I'm no doctor nor do I know how bad his knee is, but if the guy's in charge don't think he's ready he needs to avoid re-injuring himself.

Thanks but I meant pre-draft 2012. Like as in "I'm fine. No need to look CB early. Go get a linebacker and a guard"

I never would have thought that needed to be clarified but, there ya go.

Again I am not an expert or surgeon but did have that surgery. Many times there is some cartilage damage to the meniscus when the knee buckles. Mine was a bucket handle tear. Most times they just remove the part of the meniscus that is torn. Problem is that the meniscus provides protection so that there isn't bone against bone contact. When it gets torn the bones do rub together causing inflammation and some pain. Something you just live with. If that happened to him, it may be as good as it gets. He can still play on it like he did last year. It is never 100%, that is what most people don't realize about many surgeries. You regain function but you are never "as good as new".

I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV. But IMO, the only people who seem to be concerned are the negative nancies on this here board.

Hogan said, he is right where he needs to be. He seems to be happy about where he is. Rivera seems to be happy with where he is. So me, I am going to be happy with where he is. Throw in Butler, who was good once and should be good again, and Norman and we should have some good competition. Which is all you can really ask for, isn't it?

Like has been said. If it does not work out this year with who we have, we will probably address this situation in either FA or the Draft. I am going to remain positive and believe that Hogan can play. That Butler and Norman will add quality depth. And the CB2 position will not be the black hole it was last year.

I see it as a coaching opportunity for Rivera and Mac. Get these guys coached up and put the best ones on the field.
