Jon Beason Responds To Alex Smith Comments

I've actually followed the Panthers from day one. I remember when they had their 1st camp in Rock Hill, about ten minutes from where i was living at the time. I want good things for them. I wish them much success on the field. That being said i pull for only one team. I have one favorite team, one. Even though i'm from this area i never turned my back on the Washington Redskins. But i know a ton of Panther history and i'm pretty spot on most of the time with my assessments. I'm close enough to the team to know whats going on but i still have an outsiders view that isn't team color blind.

you put london fletcher ahead of beason on your list.

Ironically Beason reminds me of a young London Fletcher, except waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy better. That's no offense to Fletcher, respek all day he has been a good player in the league for a long time.

Fletcher has never missed a game in his life. Has more tackles than anyone currently playing. Is one of the most respected football players of all time. His stats alone runs circles around Beason. If and only if Beason comes back 100% i would put him slightly above Fletcher. Maybe, it all depends on when the 37 year old Fletcher starts acting his age.

Hakeem Nicks, Dez Bryant, Desean Jackson isn't a bad list of receivers in a division though. Maybe not elite, but just a step below.

All have had top ten quarterbacks as well.

Nicks just broke his foot (out 12 weeks) and has had injury problems thoughout his career. Dez is a head case but very talented. Jackson is great at what he does but he's no where near as tough as Steve Smith. Moss, Garson, Davis are right there with these guys as long as RG3 is legit.

the original question posed was asking which MLBs were better than beason in 2010

"Alex would have put up the same numbers as a rookie if the same thing would have happened for him as it did for Cam in Carolina. They changed the offense to a spread offense in order to fit what Cam was used to. That's the real reason for him being able to break the rookie record for passing. That and the fact that they were always losing games and so he had to keep passing the ball and got tons of garbage time stats. He'll be a good qb though if he is groomed correctly."

Here's a quote from a posted over on the 9er board. That is the most laughable and ill-informed post I think I have ever read on the internet...ever. Alex Smith? Same numbers as a rookie because we ran a spread offense this season? Cam was used to our offense? Always losing game, garbage time stats? We lost more games in the 4th after leading at half in more games than I remember. He's already a better QB than Smith, and it is not even an argument.
