If 17 TD passes is not going to get you in the Superbowl, how is 21 much better?

Smith had less than 1/3 of the Ints with almost all of the TD passes yet Beason acts like Smith wasn't throwing the ball which just makes Cam look bad when you look at TD passes and Ints.

Smith threw TDs more often and threw Ints waaaaaaaaaay less often.

This needs to end now before Beason looks really dumb

You're hilarious, let's start with cam had 35 tds the rushing cant be discounted. Secondly this is cams first season as compared to a veteran who's never been successful. It took 3+ years for smith to have close to yds tds and any other important number that cam does. There's no comparison it's like a highschool kid saying he can beat Matt Ryan. Smith is just an angry "ugly duckling" who doesn't know how to handle media because he's not used to ever winning because he never has.

the burning fallacy here is that newton is a rookie and those other dudes are veterans. if newton can rival their production then great.

i mean seriously why should it piss anyone off if matt moore or alex smith were better than newton according to some metrics? both of them were in situations where they were pretty much disposable if they didn't. moore is going to be fighting for his job again and there is no way alex smith gets that contract extension back in march if he sucked. they're 5 and 7 year vets respectively anyway, they should both play better than a rookie.

also i fail to understand how counting rushing touchdowns by a quarterback would make one "dumb". are they secretly not worth 6 points?

Beason doesn't think that throwing for 19 TD passes will get you a Superbowl, so he obviously feels that passing TDs are more meaningful to a QB than rushing TDs and should be accounted for separately as they are a more accurate depiction of where you are at as a QB.

I don't think Cam is living up to Beason's standards or he would have clearly mentioned rushing TDs as well. I guess it's something they can hash out in the locker room.

you specifically asserted that beason isn't dumb enough to mention rushing touchdowns by a quarterback. that sounds more like your opinion than anything beason actually said.

i feel that they should be accounted for separately as well. however you must also consider the number of possible redzone passing attempts taken away due to called runs in addition to handoffs.
