Jon Beason Responds To Alex Smith Comments

Rivera has already addressed Luke and Beason will both be asked to play WLB and MLB.

That is obviously being done bc Rivera doesn't know yet where they will ultimately end up in his D. Other LBs may know other spots in case of injury.....with Beason and Luke Rivera is going to sort out where they fit

I read on the CO that Beason is staying in the middle and Luke is WLB.

I always assumed that every team preferred their LBs to be versatile. Silly me.

Said that is where they will start off....

Rivera has been quoted that he has talked to Beason about playing both this year....and has been quoted that Luke will be asked to do both.

Rivera is going to put people where it gives him the best D going forward.

No, no he wasn't, top ten yes. And i hope he comes back at full strength no doubt.

Who was better than him? The only two that come to mind are Wilis and Lewis...Now Lewis is approaching retirement and perhaps since Beason was injured, Jerod Mayo has taken that #2 spot. Do you really think guys like Brian Urlacher, Demeco Ryans, and David Harris are better 'backers? I didn't think so...

Just read Beason's latest comments...

“I think 19 touchdown passes is, you know, not going to get you in a Super Bowl,” Beason said. “I think five interceptions is an amazing stat, but it is just like in basketball, if you don’t shoot you can’t score. So based on what they were able to do and the parts around him, the coach, the defense, I think they did a great job. You win 13 games you’re the best in the league. I think that’s the right formula for them but that wouldn’t have been the right formula for us. So do you take your hat off to Alex Smith? Yes. Should he feel good about himself? Yes. Should he get upset about having to answer questions about him finishing 29th in the league in yards per game? That’s a stat. If you don’t like it maybe fix it but, like I said, in the meantime don’t take shots at other people or other players because you are tired of dealing with that question.”

absolutely no way anyone could have said what he said better... there's no way to misconstrue what he said as a knock on Smith or the 49ers or anyone else, but he defended his earlier comments and Cam at the same time. Absolutely brilliant.

Hats off to Beason.

Hats off to Beason.

That really was well said. Hopefully that will put an end to this nonsense.

If 17 TD passes is not going to get you in the Superbowl, how is 21 much better?

Smith had less than 1/3 of the Ints with almost all of the TD passes yet Beason acts like Smith wasn't throwing the ball which just makes Cam look bad when you look at TD passes and Ints.

Smith threw TDs more often and threw Ints waaaaaaaaaay less often.

This needs to end now before Beason looks really dumb
