Rivera has something you can't buy... he's been there and these guys know that. The '85 Bears might have been the greatest team of all time and Rivera was right in the middle of it. He's a champion, he knows how championships are won, all you have to do is shut up and follow him.

Having met Rivera in person several times, the other thing I can say about him is there is no B.S.

He is very friendly, but he doesn't patronize you. He'll look you in the eye, smile, shake your hand and say hello, but there is no meaningless small talk. To me, that conveys much more respect than saying "hey, nice shirt" or making some other superficial comment (like Fox used to do). I'm not bashing Fox, I really liked Fox and I always appreciated the way he treated fans, but there is a significant difference between him and Rivera and I prefer Rivera's style.

It's easy for me to see why players trust him and want to play hard for him.

LOL...LaFell caught 97.3% of his passes last season, but oooooh lord, he dropped a few in the THIRD DAY of OTAs...he must suck cuz noone is EVER rusty coming into OTAs!

Holy crap, do some people just only read what they want to read?

I'll make it as simple as possible. Nobody has said LaFell sucks. Nobody. Nada. All that has been said is that LaFell, under no circumstance, should be dropping 3 out of 4. That doesn't mean he sucks. That just means he has had a bad day. There is no problem whatsoever of acknowledging he had a bad day.

NOBODY has said LaFell is a bad player or that this makes him bad. All we have said that is that simply, you cannot be dropping passes like that - you have to remain consistent, especially when you are at competition for a position. Are you saying it is OK for him to be dropping 3 out of 4?

Did you play High School ball? Coaches would get on your backside if you had a bad practice. That didn't make you a bad player. It just meant you had a bad practice. You are expected to go 100% and they look for consistency. If you don't think Rivera was disappointed in LaFell, then whatever. But stop putting words in peoples mouth. Nobody has said LaFell sucks. Just that he should not be dropping 3 out of 4, especially when there isn't any contact and everything is being slowed down at this point.

This is no different than everyday life in a competition for a job. Say you are trying to be an accountant. You could very well be a great accountant, but one bad interview could be the difference between being employed and unemployed. One bad day could be the difference between LaFell as the #2 and LaFell as the #3. I'm in no way saying LaFell sucks. Nobody has said it. Just that he has to remain consistent and dropping 3 out of 4, OTAs or not, is not a good thing. Why some can't see that, I have no idea. It can only be a good thing or a bad thing. Saying it isn't a bad thing is calling it a good thing, and I believe you are smart enough to know it certainly isn't the latter. Yes, it isn't a big deal at this point. But it certainly is unacceptable.

It was an over exaggerated post, poking fun of peoples overreactions to a few dropped passes! Its not the end of the world and some folks were taking it way too serious. If you didn't see that, I suggest that you go back and re-read the thread. And FYI if you took my post literal, then maybe you should remove the corn cobb from thine ass. Comprende CARA DE VERGA?

How is calling LaFell dropping 3 out of 4 passes unacceptable and disappointing an overreaction?

Why? Was a game on the line or something or was it just a practice? I'm sure a lot of players are rusty during OTAs. If it was during TC,after he has been back training a couple months, then its an issue as of now its just the third day of a glorified walk through.

Otah's only competition in his first year was Frank Omiyale. If that's not essentially being handed the starting spot, then I don't know what is.

Otah is better than what he showed us rookie year and I know that for a fact because I watched him in college and I don't think he felt the sense of urgency when he came into the league because the job was his for the taking

I believe this makes you the dumb one.

cause he easily beat out his competition, he was handed the job?

I think you have no place calling anyone dumb.
