Huddle Doctors And Those Who Pretend To Be Doctors

I have a torn calf muscle. It happend a month ago. I can barely walk one day and then will be 100% the next. Well after debating on playing softball this year because of it I went ahead and played and it was reinjured right away. I can jog with a lot of pain but not run. What should I do to heal this?

Can I expect to be able to play next week? In all of my sports career I've been lucky to not have to deal with any injuries. Please help because I hit a home run tonight but was limping around like a retard.

Treatment is non-surgical. In most instances treatmetn includes limiting muscle-loading activities, wearing a boot (Cam Walker), and using crutches in the short term, before progressing to physical therapy exercises aiming to regain full range of motion and muscular strength. Significant improvement can be expected within the first two weeks, but full recovery can take up to 6-8 weeks. It may take many more months to regain muscle mass in the calf that had been lack of use.

I can say this. I never understood when a Panther player got hurt but was walking around completely fine on the sidelines. "He will be fine." Now I know you can walk around with a lot of pain and seem normal but have a bad unjury.

Don't use it...allow it to heal.

Tell the coach you can play but no hard running and you'll need a pinch runner. Put in batting order behind some fast guys that can come in for you (our rule is guy who made last out). And be sure the lineup doesn't have two hurt dudes close together so if you have to...get lucky and spread the pinch runner across two innings (in our league...only one pinch per inning).
