Alex Smith Had Some Choice Words About Mr. Newton.

Recommended Posts

Your right but I think the point of a team not winning bc of Cam was not entirely accurate either. We lost games in spite of Cam's efforts.

I know that most of the blame falls on the defense and special teams, play( Vikings, Bears, Zona, 2nd ATL game, 1st NO game) but Cam has made mistakes, but thats understandable, being a rookie. For a rookie he was amazing and Alex Smith shouldn't be talking out his ass.

all you supposedly level-headed people that keep on saying that smith had a point are ignoring or are too dumb to notice that smith was talking out of his ass.

You're like the Carolina Panthers and you're going no-huddle the entire second half," Smith said. "Yeah, Cam Newton threw for a lot of 300-yard games, that's great. You're not winning though."

wins are more important, but smith wasn't paying attention to why the panthers weren't getting wins. newton came by those stats honestly.

smith is just trying to make it look like he isn't the bust of a draft pick that he is.

They also gave up 32 points, 18 in the fourth quarter.

Smith had 299 yards and 3 TDs and another one rushing (4 total) while his defense gave up over 450 yards to Breesus.

Smith built a 17-0 lead before his defense crumbled again and again.

Just because Smith wasn't asked to win games in the regular season doesn't mean he was incapable.

Context is your friend. He started his first drive at midfield and admittedly made one nice pass to V. Davis for the first TD. But the second TD came on a 4 yard drive due to the defense forcing a turnover, and the next 3 points came on an immediate turnover on a muffed kickoff return. The only other points scored before the two final drives were a FG which was a result of the defense forcing another muffed punt return. So yeah, while the defense allowed points in the 4th quarter they were instrumental in getting him the early cushion against the best offense in the league.

Exactly. The defense had more to do with that 17-0 lead than Smith did.

Alex Smith is a game manager at best. SF had to hide him on that team.

I will not sit here and say Cam was without his fair share of mistakes as a rookie but Alex is seriously smoking something for him to dismiss what Cam did his first season with a 2-14 team. Especially when anyone who can get past their dislike for Cam, can see the 6-10 season could have easily been a 9-7 or better season if the Pathers defense had stepped up and not given away some game. Cam and the offense put up some seriously numbers in the first half, only to watch it all disappear at the end. Plus this kid did what he did without any real pre-season.

So Alex needs to seriously stop showing his jealousy..Here's hoping Cam will get as much leverage as he got for his past 6 years of work.

So what you're saying is:

The defense did their job, Smith did his.

then

The defense didn't do their job, Smith still did his.

Do I have that correct?

Yeah Smith kicked those fieldgoals...if it wasn't for the 9ers D the offecse would've put up only 7 points.

It kind of is the truth. His stats were padded a lot by his late game come from behind gunslinging. I don't see that as a bad thing though because at least he can complete a pass instead of going 3 and out like our 2010 QBS would.

Yea and a lot of games they had phantom calls that took away TD's
