Blitzes up the middle provide more pass rush than any of the DTs will. All they need to do is occupy the blockers so the linebackers have a path to the QB. Expect that on more plays than not. When team focus on stopping the middle blitz then Johnson and Hardy will get the single blocking and become a force on the outside.

Yes I hope so. Rivera seems to be a little high on Alexander. If our guys are healthy, maybe Dermott can draw up some good blitzes.

I am also high on Alexander (like he is a drug lol), I watched him a bunch this year and I had him in my original mock draft albeit in the 5th round but nonetheless I think he is a huge addition to the Panthers.

It really baffles me why this FO is so hesitant to sign a starter or draft a DT in early rounds.

Because they drafted two of them early last year and yes they both sucked ass but once again give them a chance. What if the Cowboys told Troy Aikman to get the f^ck out after his rookie year?

If they don't turn it around next year, you can all but guarantee that defensive tackle will be addressed in free agency and probably in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Troy Aikman was highly regarded QB coming out of college, Mcclain nor Fua aren't guaranteed they will even be anything close to special.

They aren't guaranteed trash either, you have seen how long the Panthers have stuck with Armanti Edwards, thinking the Panthers organization won't give the same time to McClain and Fua is an obsolete way of thinking.

You don't give up on rookies after one season. That's like your boss giving up on you after one week on the job.

They were rushed into an uncompromising situation.

It's okay to be upset but damn, chill the hell out lol.

I don't know where this idea came from that McClain and Fua were drafted to be the heirs to start at DT, and that giving them any less of a role in the defense is cutting them off. They are third round picks after all, and they didn't prove anything last year. Any time somebody mentions "but they showed flashes guys" then what the hell were they doing the other 90% of plays?

Our corner depth is another area of focus where it's just like let's fuging wing it with the marginal talent we have after Gamble. Oh Munnerlyn's gonna get better and so is Butler and Hogan and everybody else.

Everybody's going to be starting caliber by September. our back four as well as our front four really has one starter and the rest are unproven or coming off injury or have performed awful. The only way this defense has a chance of being tops in the league this year with the meager personnel we have at some spots is if Rivera comes up with some brilliant Dick LeBeau type poo

I have heard many people that are already calling for Fua's ass lol and while he sucked dick last year, he was still just a young rookie. I think we will see a much improved defense this year and I for one am interested in seeing how guys like Fua and McClain do coming off their sub-per performances last year.

Rivera expects McClain, Kearse, and Fua to step up and with the return of Edwards we should be significantly better. Don't get on the Panthers just yet. At least wait til five games in the season lol.

im not getting on them, but out of all those guys you named only 1 was brought in to give an interior pass rush. while he didnt do much last year, i hope he can improve and show flashes that he can be that disruptive force.Edwards, Kearse and Fua are all NT and normally came off the field in passing situations. (Edwards in KC)
