Everrett Brown called most impact rookie next season

He could be an every down player, but as some have already pointed out - he doesn't need to be. While it's true that the guy is only 6'1" and 250, he's packing allot of strength in that frame and he'll only get stronger. Mathis and Freeney are every-down players so there's no reason why Brown can't be just based on his size.

What's going to be interesting, is that he's clearly better suited to be a RE - but that means Peppers would have to move back over to LE and get less opportunities to get sacks.... the plot thickens...

Does it really matter which side either of them will be on? Brown will be a rookie needing to prove he was worth his trade and Peppers will need to impress next year to get his wish of going somewhere else of his choosing. Both will NEED their A game at all times next year. With those two on the ends imagine how quickly the pockets will collapse.

Especially against the pass heavy, big play offenses we're going up against next year...there could seriously be some magic here.

Brown does have a good arsenal of moves.

Based on video I've watched, he seems to prefer the dip and rip, but has a wicked spin move as well. Haven't seen him bull rush much, but he knows how to use a club move (ala Howie Long / Reggie White).

Give him some pro coaching and some extra poundage and there's definite potential.

if both brown and peppers are playing brown is going to be on the left most likely and i have little problem with this.

i want the QB to see that train coming and panic while peppers is coming in from behind. brown can play on either side and i like the idea of him playing against the weaker of the two OTs.

when peppers got in, even though he had played RE throughout his college career and was most likely going to be the better between he and rucker, rucker stayed on the RE and kept it until he retired. same will be for peppers/brown...if both are on the team the right side will be peppers until he is no longer a panther.

just a quick question? everyone seems to be pretty excited about the pass rush with pep and brown on the ends. (including myself) but will everyone still be as excited if pep happens to get traded? i think Johnson is a great pass rusher but to say he will be as good as pep may be a bit of a reach. just something i was thinking about and wanted to get opinions....

Peppers is not going to be traded, that ship has sailed...

If pep gets traded you still have the threat of Brown to work with. Defense doesn't have to change its mindset too much and basically you focus on improving what you had last year. With the consistency of starters from last year to this year, the gelling period is extremely short leaving you with more time to improve what needs to be worked on.

Win/Win

2 good players can make up for one peppers...i like johnson and brown as the starting DE if peppers leaves..but knowing fox..brown will not start this year..but will get in on passing downs.

i was in the process of making a collection of peppers sacks using the nfl replay re-cutter and had browser problems losing what i did but anyway, looking at all of peppers sacks and then comparing it with browns...i got to tell you that brown was a lot more fun to watch.

90-95% of peppers QB pressures are bull rushes. brown, though, has an amazing repertoire of moves. that dude is going to be outright lethal.

peppers does one thing and does it well but you always know what he is going to do.

brown...you never know what he is going to do but what he will do is exploit every weakness he can find. everything from figuring out the snap count and being able to anticipate it to flat out abusing and burning the OT is really sweet. it's almost like he uses judo on them the way he uses their size, strength, and momentum against them and gets around them....and everything he does is so quick. there were several sacks i saw that i had to watch 3 or 4 times just to see where he came from.

i can't imagine what it is going to be like once he gets some more experience.

all nice..but we have to wait and see if all this translates to the NFL..OT are bigger and stronger and faster...most people would prefer a peppers type player me i will wait and see but from what i saw i loved browns moves..and who is the guy on the other side for flordia that DE looked good all by himself..

    • Yeah I'm not into college as much, so I admit not to having my own opinion about him coming out. But strictly watching ESPN shows, and going off of commentary at the time..It was a lot more 50/50 even on this board than what people like to remember and admit.  Yes many people had doubts and questions, but MANY people also thought he could possibly be the one. I was only versed enough to know that it was between he and CJ, but most pundits made it sound like either way we had a QB of the future, just different skillsets/traits.
    • Jonathan Mingo to the Cowboys Cowboys receive: WR Jonathan Mingo, 2025 seventh-round pick Panthers receive: 2025 fourth-round pick  Dallas Cowboys: C Leave it to Jerry Jones to wait until after Dak Prescott is injured to go after another receiver. To be fair, the Dallas Cowboys have a real need for the position. CeeDee Lamb is a superstar, but Jalen Tolbert and Brandin Cooks haven't been the needle movers that the Cowboys were hoping for. Making a trade for a receiver wasn't a bad move, but the player that the Cowboys gave up three rounds of value to acquire is questionable. Jonathan Mingo checked a lot of physical and athletic boxes as the 40th-overall pick in 2023. Unfortunately, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound wideout has struggled to be a productive receiver at the NFL level. Some of that has to do with playing for the Carolina Panthers, but Mingo has seriously lacked efficiency at the position. Mingo has yet to record his first NFL touchdown, catching 55 passes for 539 yards. Per TruMedia, he has just 0.74 yards per route run in his career, which ranks 177th out of 186 receivers with at least 50 targets since the start of the 2023 season.Even though Mingo fills a need, that's a lot of value to give up for a receiver that's struggled so much at the NFL level. The good news is that he still has a couple more years on his rookie deal, so at least the Cowboys are getting a cheap developmental project to learn from a star like Lamb. Carolina Panthers: A Instead of trying to hold onto Mingo, the Panthers took what they could get, and that turned out to be way more than expected. Mingo quickly became expendable thanks to the rapid ascension of rookie receiver Xavier Legette. Along with a larger-than-life personality, Legette has hauled in 26 catches for 244 yards and four touchdowns. Three of those touchdowns have come in the last four games, with Legette becoming more and more of a focal point in Carolina's offense. For a team that needs to capitalize as much as possible on draft assets, moving up three rounds in the draft to move on from a disappointing draft pick feels like an absolute win. https://www.the33rdteam.com/nfl-trade-deadline-2024-grading-every-move/
