No Russian.

In all seriousness, Mandarin, Japanese, or to a lesser degree Portuguese (Brazil) would probably be the most economically useful languages. Italian would probably be fun and like Portuguese would have a lot of similarities to Spanish.

If you can write in perl, python (specifically for biopython), R, and SAS (I know these last two aren't languages per se but they are kinda close)...you'll have a job in biotech until the day you die.

SAS... amen to that.

I'm going to google all of that tonight. Sounds very interesting. Are these 'languages' normally used in one field? Or are they all over the place?

In simple terms, Python (And Perl and Ruby and PHP, etc) encompasses most back-end computing. As in, what goes on behind the scenes of a web application - but it is very versatile.

R is mainly statistics and SAS is business analysis. But yea, like Scrum said, Python is an actual language where as R and SAS are more like complimentary analytics.
