I believe it was actually supposed to be on Morehead Street just outside of what is "officially" uptown.

Charlotte's skyline while already very nice, would have been incredible had the building bust not happened. Trumps towers were canceled, the Epicenter 50 story condo tower was canceled, the condo tower beside the Duke Energy Center was canceled, the 40 story condo tower connected to the Westin was canceled, the condo tower with the car elevators on Tryon was canceled, two hotels in 3rd ward near the stadium were canceled, and a 40 story tower right beside Latta Arcade/Brevard Court was canceled.

That is a lot of canceled projects and that doesn't even include the dozens that were canceled along South Blvd.

I'm pretty sure Trump was looking to build it on the corner of South Tryon and Stonewall Street. Right in the same area as the Duke Energy building. I seem to remember Morehead Street being mentioned. But I think that was just a rumor from when news of tower first came out.
