L.A. is obviously bigger. More busy. Noisy. The Smog is Overrated to be honest. I didn't have a Car in L.A., didn't need it with their transportation, which was a plus, but the cost of living was horrible man. I was making ends meat there. You needed to hustle every day to get by. At least I did.

Charlotte was more laid back, The kind of place you take a break from your schedule to smell the flowers type of deal. Really cool. It's a growing city so transportation isn't that great. Cost of living is moderate. I was making more cash in Charlotte than L.A. But the thing is, in LA I had the beaches close by man.

I used to live in SoCal too. Santa Ana. Have to say I miss the place too, but Charlotte was just better in my eyes. More boom as far as business, tranquil too, the kind of place you want to start a family I would say. But if you're single there's a lot of places in the uptown and surrounding areas you can mingle with the folks.

Went thru LA in April and I was not impressed. At all. You could not see the mountains to the north and west because of the smog. Now, further south, once you go past Irvine, is freaking awesome.

I don't exactly live in the city of Los Angeles, but I live very close. My town is more suburban and safe, closer to the beach. Especially the less populated beaches of North Los Angeles.

Charlotte sounds great but if I were to ever move to North Carolina in the later years of my life, I would have to be close to the coast.

Thanks for the write up though.

It's a great place. The beaches are a little farther away, Myrtle being around 4-5 hours. I used to take trips to the coast because they were fun. Kitty hawk, oak island. All those places are several hours away, but you can get away for a weekend and have fun man. There's plenty of places to go within several hours. You could go north to camp if you'd like. Go south to ATL, Got west to Nashville. Loved going there during their BBQ festivals. On a personal level I love to drive. So that's why Charlotte appealed more to me. Every other weekend was something different. Once a month I'd be in a different city just for fun.

Good Lord, Grandma...how slow you drivin'?

Ever since I was stopped by a SC state trooper for going 100 in a 65, I slowed the fug down. He gave me a nice ticket and was nice enough to knock it down to 74 mph. SC does not play when it comes to speeding tickets. Also depends which way I take, If I take the long way or the fast way. I like taking in the scenery too, stopping when I feel like too. No need to rush, The beach will be there when I get there.

Was that supposed to be in uptown? I love the design in that! Looks amazing for sure. What exactly was it supposed to be?

Yeah, it was supposed to be in Uptown. It was going to be your typical Donald Trump tower. Mixed-used with a hotel, restaurants, shopping, ect. The tallest of the two towers would have been 70+ floors (1,000+ ft).

Having lived in Charlotte for almost my entire life, I will say it is my favorite city in the US. With the exception of Chicago (which I hear is phenomenal) I have been to pretty much every major city in the states.

Of course, I cannot back up my first sentence without favoritism. However, I have never met a single person that has said anything but nice things about Charlotte. Transportation is a little tight sometimes - especially if you are commuting from South Charlotte to Uptown. And the belt loop gets backed up in afternoon rush hour. But that is a minor gripe compared to cities like DC and NYC.

Loved Portland, San Francisco, Seattle and Jackson Hole (though not really a big city) but give me Charlotte any day ;).

I believe it was actually supposed to be on Morehead Street just outside of what is "officially" uptown.

Charlotte's skyline while already very nice, would have been incredible had the building bust not happened. Trumps towers were canceled, the Epicenter 50 story condo tower was canceled, the condo tower beside the Duke Energy Center was canceled, the 40 story condo tower connected to the Westin was canceled, the condo tower with the car elevators on Tryon was canceled, two hotels in 3rd ward near the stadium were canceled, and a 40 story tower right beside Latta Arcade/Brevard Court was canceled.

That is a lot of canceled projects and that doesn't even include the dozens that were canceled along South Blvd.

Well I'm not a native of Charlotte. I've been to a lot of cities. Charlotte was the most accessible and nicest place I was. Before I move there I had a very bad misconception of the south. Charlotte changed that. It's honestly the only city I called and consider home. In the states.
