Panthers Hope Hogan Can Step Up (Pfw)

Recommended Posts

Capt. was a better CB last year than Butler. I would not be surprised if he was not cut this year. He was consistently beat on the outside when Capt shifted inside.

You have to remember that Butler came in late, so didn't even have TC to learn the system...so he started out behind the eight ball. Then he lost the middle part of the year with his daughter's health scare, and I have no doubt that, to some degree, it effected him through the end of the season. So I wouldn't base anything on their pecking order last season. Captain's one of the worst CB's in the league, and Butler at least has the physical characteristics to be solid..of course that still has to translate to the field before looking at him for anything more than depth.

I think the Captain days are numbered as #2 Corner. I like he will lose it but I think he will win the nickel spot. He seems fitted for that spot.

My pecking order is

Hogan - Steal of 2011 draft. 4th Rounder 2nd Round Talent. I think Rivera is hoping he takes this position.

Butler- Had some scess in NE before losing his job. Could be a solid replacement for the #1 or #2 Spot.

Norman is our future. I think this guy gets some experience with the big boys he is going to blossom into a superstar. No Need to rush him. Would be perfect Nickel and Dime packages.

CB is not a complex position and learning curve is not very long in most systems. He did not blow coverages but just got beat.

Martin and Pugh were blown coverage players where Capt and Butler were poor coverage players.

Gamble, Hogan, Norman!!! Munny and Butler as slot and reserve cb. Smith and Nakamura hopefully taking over in the safty spots. Great stuff Rivera...ur the fugn mein

Godfrey will not lose his spot and Martin may not even lose his spot. People forget who are linebacker's were last year. A lot of what happens on defense revolves around the play of the linebacker's.

Really must of not liked him or he didn't want to play for us.

And how or where did you get that from. I don't recall anyone from management saying anything about Asante and that don't mean that we didn't like him. That has been the way the Panthers do business. They won't immediately make it known that they are interested in someone.

You still need to know the scheme to know where you're supposed to be, who has what responsibility, where the safeties are shifting coverage, is it man or zone, and so on. In other words, sure it is simple to just line up and cover someone, but it's not so simple to do so within the confines of the scheme and gameplan.

Its also true that bears poo in the woods but that still does not lead any closer to a point. Blown coverage is clear on the field and so is getting beat. Still no matter how you say the same thing over it still does not make them one in the same.

And I guess you have a "source" that told you that huh? Cause its not like every day management comes out and says " yo dis guy sux and we ain't gonna sign him".

No I don't have a source and I didn't say anything that could've been as a matter of fact, I gave my opinion. You stated that we must have not like him or he didn't want to come here, as if you know this...so I asked where did you get that from. Now that we have that cleared up. If that was your opinion, then cool.
