well with his talent level being ranked so high by the huddle there will undoubtedly be teams lining up and fighting with each other to sign him to complete their superbowl defenses

in fact we should have franchised him and gotten a gm to give us first rounders for that grade a talent

damn you hurney you incompetent bag of scrotums, damn you damn you damn you

I am a litle surprised and disapointed, i would rather keep Shirley 26 over Edwards 32

Shirley was rather promising btw.

Did you see our DT's last year with NO veteran presence? And, you want to release the vet who has consistently produced in this league?

You need to have a nice blend of veterans and youth at a position. Too much youth and you struggle mightly.

Look at Ron Edwards stats again, i m not impressed.

Btw at 26 Shirley is also a veteran.

.. I believe he will not be out of a job for long. He has potential. I think he is victim of the circumstance that we just have a lot of young talent at the position. Of course he could have showed up at camp looking like a tub of cheetos, who knows. Since we don't have any beat writers in Charlotte who cover the Panthers we have to guess at these things.

I can see the argument of keeping Shirley around but certainly not over the only veteran on the interior line.

The whole logic seems to be that Shirley got 2.5 sacks. That's alone sounds pretty good, I know. But, did he get them because of his work or did Johnson or Hardy chase the QB right to him. Did a guard or center whiff and leave him unaccounted for?

I personally remember nothing about this guy when he was in the game. It's pretty easy to look at stats after the fact and center in on those sacks but Rivera and company look much deeper into things and actually know what they are talking about. If they think this little of him than I'm not going to second guess the cutting of a career scrub.

I wonder how things would've been for him had the Bengals not tried to convert him to oline for his first two seasons. He's a pretty nasty player, but we've been reading between the lines on this one for weeks now.

yet another credible argument for common sense as opposed to stats only. One has to watch the game. ALL stats are skewed.

Hmm...I did notice many liked him so hopefully the kid will do well elsewhere or whatnot

My guess is we're gonna be looking at Edwards & Kearse starting next season after all is said and done with Fua as the NT backup (developing) and McClain losing out to Kearse.

Just my guess but I think it may be what happens

I don't get it. We already have like 20 WRs competing for 1 or 2 spots

Well then hopefully we find a diamond in the rough as a result..or not..honestly, by having the QB position after these past years finally stabilized, its gonna be cool to see the other spot battles in training camp and practices this offseason
