2012 Sf Giants Thread

I would take Bumgarner & Cain over any other 1-2 punch in baseball. Barry Zito is also pitching excellent this season.

Bumgarner & Cain are two of the most underrated pitchers in the majors.

There are 5 people in a rotation, not just 2. Nationals are #1 in ERA in the league, with a team 2.94 era, #2 in quality starts, #1 in WHIP, and #1 in opp. batting average. Giants are 3rd/7th/5th/6th in those categories. Still pretty good, but definitely not the best rotation.

Strasburg is still recovering from a major injury. Cain & Bumgarner are cold-blooded killers with a World Series title. Numbers aren't everything. In a 7 game series I'd take SF everytime.

Bumgarner

Cain

Zito

Lincecum

LOL this fool doesn't know what he's talking about he doesn't even watch baseball.

Lol... I could care less dude. I just watch when he pitches. A few of us flew out last summer to watch a game & SF is full of wackos. Strange city. Their team overall isn't that good. They just have really good pitchers. Although Lincecum continued his horrible season tonight..

This was posted by him earlier in the thread, by his previous account that was banned. He only posted this thread because he supposedly went to elementary school with Madison Bumgartner and now that Cain pitched that perfect game and their only 3 and half games behind he's hopping on the wagon.

When the fug are you just going to leave for good?

Numbers mean a lot when you are #1 in era and #1 in opponent's batting avg. Playoffs, maybe they are better, but right now, Nationals AND Dodgers, are better. May be different at the end of the season though.

That was kind of my point. In the playoffs I would take those guys over anybody else. Tim Lincecum is 2-7 with a +6era. If he can return to his old form they would be the #1 rotation by far. He is really struggling.

Right now that would probably be the Nationals.

This. Probably isn't the right word though, it's definitely.

Strasburg and Gio are both legitimate aces. Jordan Zimmermann is a really good #2 even though he's in the 3 spot. Edwin Jackson is pitching very well right now, although I see him finishing the season with a 3.5-4 ERA, but as of now he's pitching great. #5 spot is inconsistent with Wang and Detwiler but for a #5 they are reasonably decent.

They also drafted the highest ceiling pitcher in the draft this year so the future of this staff is even better.

I hate the frickin SF Giants with a passion.

But I can respect what they did their World Championship year with their young, home grown pitching staff. They deserved what they got. Great pitching>great hitting every time.

Washington, Los Angeles and San Fransisco are 1, 2 and 3 in staff ERA in the National League at the momenet.

I laugh my ass off at Phillie's 4.0 plus staff ERA.

Should be a great race this summer.

SF Giants finished #1 in ERA in '10, 2nd in '11, & are currently #5 this season. I would take Cain over Strasburg then Bumgarner over Gio anyday. Barry Zito is having an excellent season. Tim Lincecum is struggling, but he's a two time Cy Young winner. In a 7 game series I'd put my money on SF beating Washington & their staff. SF shut down a very powerful Texas team in the WS.

SF

rofl, homers gonna homer

Cain vs. Strasburg is the only advantage SF has, and that's only because Cain can go deep into games and isn't on an innings limit. Stras will be the best pitcher in baseball within the next few years.

Gio, Zimmermann, EJax, and Detwiler >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lincecum, Vogelsong, Bumgarner, and Zito
