What Is Gantt's Problem With James Anderson?

Anderson isn't a JAG, but he's not the greatest player on the team, either. Teams consist of your superstars, your good players, your roleplayers, and your JAGs. James Anderson falls into the good players category. He's solid, consistent, has played his ass off, and doesn't take games off. I think he's a good player, not great, but fills a whole that we have.

Anderson's salary is about average for an NFL linebacker. So if he is an average linebacker, then we paid the correct amount.

I'm wondering where you got your numbers from because I'm having trouble finding it. It doesn't look that close though. Anderson is the 32nd highest paid linebacker. So it doesn't look right with a lot of guys making under 700,000 a year. IMO Anderson should be in the 50-60 range as a good number 2 or 3. It is going to hurt our team when we go nickel and have 4.4 million sitting on the bench around 50% of the time.

On a serious note, why does he tslk about the Panthers so much? He doesn't cover them anymore.

Is this a serious question? Gantt has been 1 of, if not the best, Panthers beat writers for years. He lost his job & I don't remember the circumstances (papers parent company merged or something? not sure), but it was very disappointing to me. He was not a Kool-aide drinker & had good insight into the team. Gantt was & is passionate for the team & I hope he gets a beat job again...Person sucks; this board was + Gantt was great, but this board is 10x's or more better than Person alone.

5. James Anderson, Carolina Panthers, 4-3 OLB

Age as of September 1st 2011: 27

2010 Grade: +14.1

Key Stat: Led all 4-3 OLBs with 61 stops in 2010.

Behind The Numbers: Anderson was on the field for over 96% of Carolina’s defensive snaps in 2010. Primarily lined up as the strongside linebacker, he was an above average all-around performer — though clearly stronger versus the run and rushing the passer than when dropping into coverage. If free agent teammate Thomas Davis returns from his second ACL injury, Anderson could be squeezed out. He should have no problem parlaying his triple-digit tackles and 19 QB disruptions into another starting gig.
