Best Hands Of 2011 (Smith Ranked 19Th)

Mike Sando of ESPN put up an article that showed who had the best hands in the NFL last year based on receptions per drops.

Steve Smith came in 19th with 19.8 receptions per every one drop.

NFC South Ranks

2. Tony Gonzalez (Atlanta) 40 receptions per every one drop

2. Marques Colston (New Orleans) 40 receptions per every one drop

18. Darren Sproles (New Orleans) 21.5 receptions per every one drop

19. Steve Smith (Carolina) 19.8 receptions per every one drop

24. Jimmy Graham (New Orleans) 16.5 receptions per every one drop

25. Kellen Winslow (Tampa Bay) 15.0 receptions per every one drop

29. Vincent Jackson (Tampa Bay) 12.0 receptions per every one drop

37. Mike Williams (Tampa Bay) 8.1 receptions per every one drop

38. Roddy White (Atlanta) 7.1 receptions per every one drop

Our division really has some great receiving threats, this just further solidifies the need for having two top tier corners which is what Atlanta must have been thinking when they acquired Asante Sameul.

Sproles ahead of Smitty is a joke. I would bet 90% of his receptions this year were short dump off passes.

Sproles has good hands (i.e. scat back) but yeah his stats are misleading because most of them are dump off passes, same goes for Ray Rice. Now don't get me wrong, they both have damn good hands but the stats are eschewed due to the many dump off passes they are responsible for.
