Great Article On Will Smith's Acting Career

He's one of my favorites, in my top 5 but the article is right, he seems to have peaked only because he won't push himself.

I actually loved 7 Pounds, so I disagree with his review. I still need to see Ali.

Jamie Foxx, who is replacing him in the Tarantino movie is also one of my favorites. I love seeing these goofy, hilarious comedians develop some serious acting chops, ala Robin Williams.

I like him very much as an actor as well... it's weird that I didn't really realize that he hadn't done anything since 2008. That Tarantino movie does sound pretty cool... sucks that he turned it down. Smith is really the only candidate for a for real "action star" out there right now... there's really no one filling that role.

Define 'action star'. I think Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson are both very good in those roles. Although neither can do it like Bruce Willis did in Die Hard.

Not a fan of Foxx (though he's okay) so I was pissed when Smith turned down Django. Going to be an epic movie.

Love me some Will Smith though and I still watch the Fresh Prince about every day. Too bad he usually only accepts the blockbuster type role to cash in instead of showing off his skills.

Will Smith is definitely one of my favorite actors, and this article really touched on why I'm personally a bit frustrated w/ his work.

I tried not to post the whole thing, but I hated to cut anything out (I cut out a paragraph or two).

TL;DR version: Will shows he can act w/ the best of them in 6 Degrees of separation, becomes a mega star in Bad Boys, Independence Day. He becomes Hollywood elite after an oscar nom for Ali, and adds another with Pursuit of Happiness. Then he becomes a hollywood politician of sorts, and makes 7 Pounds in 2008 which was critcally panned (and he hasn't appeared in another film since)

He turned down what could have been a WAY more serious and possible oscar-nominated role in Django Unchained. Quentin Tarantino chose Smith for the role be he chickened out because he would have had to play a slave (Jamie Foxx landed the role).

My wife and kids met him when he was here for his 8 Pounds premier. I have great pics of him holding and talking with my youngest son. Wife said he was a really nice guy.

Ali was one of my favorite Will Smith movies. You definitely need to check it out.

He's a sell out. Can't say I really blame him though. He's wealthy and a top box office draw.

I read online that he was offered the role of Neo in The Matrix and turned it down to film Wild Wild West.

Just checked on IMDB and saw that Bad Boys 3 is filming. Please God no.
