Top Live Performances

Sorry if this recreating an old post (I am sure it is - I remember a post about best live set ever, and my input was Nirvana unplugged in NYC), but I am a sucker for live songs just as much as sets. It is one thing to get into the studio, sit down and sing while letting the equipment do all the immortalizing. However, if you can pull off an outstanding performance without editing, you truly are a musician.

From experience, Tom Petty puts on the best live concert for me. I have seen him many times over at Verizon and have never been disappointed. However, I took no video and can only make subjective claims to the point. However, Youtube has some gems of great songs that were caught live. Don't get me wrong, these were probably still partially edited. But here are my top live song performances that completely trump the studio version:

Tool is straight up awesome live, seen them 6 times....

Clutch is consistently the best $20 I spend year after year, seen them at least 20 times...

311 is usually solid, but Ive been to a bad show of theirs, seen them 14 times...

Pink Floyd did an amazing show back in 1994, the only time I saw them...

The Who in Madison Square Garden in 2002 was amazing. And they did the show just a couple weeks after John Entwhistle had passed away.

Aerosmith 1975,

Eagles 1973, 1996, 1999... etc.

Kiss 1975- we laugh now, but back then it was pretty special

Springsteen- so many times it's almost meh

Deep Purple- 1974

Emerson, Lake & Palmer- 1974

okay... this whole show April 1974... all for $10.00
