Deangelo Williams Is Overpaid & Washed Up

I love D. Will but 5 year, 43 million 21 guaranteed is a bit much in my opinion. I think that you'd have to consider and or choose which back you want to keep the most: D. Will or J. Stew? It appears that we've made the decision to keep D. Will, unless he restructures his contract so we can resign J. Stew or Stew takes less money....which I doubt. Stew is more of a complete back w/o D. Will experience. Williams have proven he can play by: fewer fumbles and injuries over his career. I too would also want to keep a back that rarely fumble the rock if ever and I would love for us to keep both. As you can see I'm torn, I'd hate for us to lose Stew. OMG, can you imagine him with GB or NE....

True, but you kinda left it wide in the open for interpretation. At first glance it seems you're actually saying he's over paid and washed up. I'm sure not everyone realized that you were continuing from the other thread that troll heyyall made. In the end it's a good eye opener for sure.

Personally I believe they could have given him a little less money that what they did, same goes with CJ. I understand taking care of their guys, but my god they over paid a bit. I understand the logic of Hurney wanting to keep the core.

If we didn't keep Deangelo and CJ (aka, overpay them) we'd have a whole new set of offseason needs. When their contracts become an issue with the cap, we'll restructure them like we do with everyone else.

CJ and DWill can't be lumped together. DE is more important and we didnt have a young DE just as good in the roster.

Also, how many coworkers would you take a paycut for?

Can't lump them. Losing CJ would effect things much differently

The paycut thing is kind of an unfair question to ask me. I don't get paid 7 digit figures and I'm not a part of an almost fraternal team. In addition, restructures generally don't result in much of pay loss, the money generally gets spread around in a more favorable manner for the organization. Not only that but the contracts the Panthers generally give out (like Williams') are heavily front loaded and designed to be easy to restructure for both the player and the organization when new front loaded contracts are ready.

Obviously most players on the team are pretty fine with this, seeing as I can't remember the last time the Panthers had a contract dispute or a holdout. (No Peppers doesn't count. We offered to make him the highest paid defensive player in the league and he still turned it down. He simply wanted to leave, no amount of money would have made a difference)
