Matt Ryan, Alex Smith, Matt Moore All Better Than Cam Last Year

Crazy how bad Cam's passing really was...wonder what it'd look like if you took out his running

That is why it blows my mind when people claim he shouldn't run. PFF had him as the 2nd best runner in the NFL last year. That is part of his game. Run and kill you deep...Cam isn't going to pull out a scapel and slowly carve people up

Asking him to be something different will result in bad things. He is a big play QB. Bad plays will always come with that.

Someone bored decided to do a chart that made them feel good about Drew Brees or something. Probably Brees agent trying to show New Orlean's front office that Drew Brees is the greatest QB of all time and this happens to prove his point.

Otherwise I think I will go with ROY and what 5 or 6 records as a rookie?

Everyone knows stats are Full of $HIT. You can prove just about anything if you dig hard enough

I love Matty Moore but the only guy that thinks Matt Moore is better than Cam Newton is TRD. Hell, not even Dolphin's fans think he is better than Cam.

TRD only likes stats when they are in his favor but when you mention total QBR, yards, (both rushing and passing), touchdowns (both rushing and passing), yards per game (both rushing and passing), and overall ability to take over a game as well as teams having to create a specific game plan to TRY and stop you... well TRD flees because he know's he is in the wrong. Also it's easy for Matt Moore to put up decent stats as a quarterback when the opposing defense's are putting eight and nine guys in the box to stop the run leaving Moore with one on one action on the outside to B. Marshall. It will interesting to see how Moore does (If he wins the job) without a great go to receiver.

This in turn results in TRD trolling the huddle just to try and get some individuals to "come at him" so he can insult them with his "e-bully" style. lol

PFF is a great tool for their stat tracking. Their grades hardly make sense sometimes and this is a perfect example of that. Cam was Responsible for 14 Rushing TD'S that they did not take into account for this ranking. Nor did the account for the number of fumbles players like Matt Moore had either.

Cam had 35 Total TD'S last year between rushing and passing. That makes him 5th overall in total TD's behind Rodgers,Brees,Stafford and Brady.

He was 10th overall in the leauge in total passing yards. This number is not inflated by his passing attempts either. He was also tied for 10th in yards per passing attempt wiith Vick.

What drug him down in their ratings was omitting his rushing td's, the 36 sacks he took last year(thanks Byron Bell) and his average completion percentage of 60%.Granted he did have the 2nd most attempts of 20 or more yards down the field of any qb in the game which def. dropped his completion percentage.

I got all of those wonderful stats from PFF, the same site Fiz is referencing. Problem is they don't know how to put all those stats together to paint the most accurate picture on their grading scale.

So once again, PFF is awesome for all the amazing stats they track. I pay money for it, but could give a poo less about their grades that don't account for everything.

If you had your choice, how many folks would take Smith, Ryan or Moore over Newton at this point?? If you aren't TRD, or a Falcon/49er fan, the answer for most sane folks would be a resounding no...... San Francisco and Miami both tried to get Manning which shows you how they feel about their quarterback. Seems Rivera is pretty happy with what he has. That is all that matters. Of those guys only Ryan is in the conversation.

Looking back at that list, Stafford threw for over 5k yards(1 of 3 players to do so, 41 touchdowns(1 of 3 players to do so) and only 16 picks. His receivers also dropped more passes(46) than any other QB. So not only is it a travesty they ranked cam behind some of those bums, they really shafted Stafford worse.

Well, PFF has its flaws but they did factor in his rushing. Cam had their 2nd highest rushing grade in all the NFL.

    • I'd give it a C mainly because of Brooks.  If we just didn't have a 2nd I'd argue B to B+ tbh. Brooks was a bad gamble, tho one that could still pay off long term. Yes XL only has 400 yards but... Look who is throwing him the ball. And I think he isn't a "true #1" but he's been able to consistently get open. Hands definitely need to be cleaned up.  But he should end the year with 500-600 yards. Like you said - Sanders looks great.  Get him a better QB / more time with a QB and I think he's gonna impress. We added a couple rotational players on D that have both made plays and show promise for the future from later rounds. So I'd say, Brooks really hurts this drafts grade. It'll be interesting to see how it progresses over the next 3 years. I've overall really liked Morgan's FA acquisitions, so...
    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
