Rotoworld Ranks Cam As The #1 Fantasy Qb

Recommended Posts

Hooray fantasy football!

1. Cam Newton, Panthers -- Newton's 14 rushing TDs probably aren't repeatable, but the Panthers will feel comfortable opening up their offense after his first full offseason in the system. OC Rob Chudzinski is a pass-first mind with strong vertical leanings. Legedu Naanee to Brandon LaFell is a major upgrade, and improvements can also be expected in Newton's TD-to-INT ratio (21:17) and completion rate (60.0). This might be the most physically talented player in football.

Good thing about the huddle: There will never be a news item about the panthers that won't be talked about.

Bad thing about the huddle: Any small insignificant tidbit about the panthers gets its own thread.

I believe it. Still can't believe I picked him up in the 10th round of my fantasy draft last year.

Speaking of, we should try to coordinate a fantasy league (Or a few) among Huddlers next season. The fact that we are all Panther fans would level the playing field, I would think.

Yea, I got Cam in the 11th or 12th round last year in one of my leagues, came in 2nd place (bunch of injuries to the rest of my starters), and Olsen around the 10th or so in 2 of my leagues. Ended up starting Jimmy Graham (who I was able to pick up in the last couple rounds haha) in one of them though ><

    • Because being a pauper in the NFL is still making a king's ransom. NFL vet min is roughly 18x the median salary in the U.S.
    • At some point I sense it's gonna create some hate and locker room cancer between these cap hogs and the rest of the players. When the top 6 or 7 players take 80% of the cap, the other 40 plus guys are gonna get pissed off, especially when they're still only winning 5 or 6 games. Why put everything on the line to play with guys who are only in it for themselves?
    • I am just spitballing here--let it play out and I will go to bed: Let's say Mahome's contract comes due and he insists on $100m per season.  Is there a team that would find the money to pay it?  Would KC? It was in 2015 (I think) when Cam was getting $20m and it was hard to grasp.  In the past decade, the price of a franchise QB has tripled.  Then the next QB bases his contract on the Mahomes deal.  The trend has been the last QB contract is the highest.  I see nothing to discourage that trend--Greed can destroy a league.  Personally, I don't watch baseball any more, and the NBA has a small group of about 8 teams that appear on national TV and they have players who make more than some eastern block countries.  Ticket prices go up---and we are headed for pay-per-view very soon across the board-
