Which Free Agent Addition Will Prove To Be The Best?

Would anyone be opposed to seeing Luke K line up at safety for a few plays a game to help against the run? If Davis, Beason, and Anderson are all effective I would have no problem with it.

yes

i am one of the persons who would be opposed

my ranking

1.Mike Tolbert-FB from San Diego

2.Mike Pollack-Guard from Indy

3.Reggie Smith S-from San Fransico

4.Haruki Nakumara S- from Baltimore

5.Kenny Onatolu LB- from Minnesota

6.Chris Manno-WR from AFL??

Heres my take

Tolbert is the most recognizable name and best producer of the bunch, but don't know how much he'll see the field, but i'm sure Chud will come up with some good ideas.

Pollack adds good depth at guard and insurance if Silatolu can't start right away. Was probably signed with the intention of being a starter if we did not draft a guard.

Reggie Smith may be able to challenge Martin for the starting spot, at least take away Pugh's playing time.

Nakumara is hard to judge, he was stuck behind Ed Reed on the Ravens depth chart, but Rivera's latest remarks on him make him seem like more of a special teams addition.

Kenny Onatolu was signed for his special teams prowess. Only problem is we are stacked at LB, with Beason,Davis,Anderson,Kuechly,Senn, and Jason williams who was our top tackler on special teams last year. Do we go with lb's this year?

Manno-I just can't see him making the team at this point, but he will get his chance to shine in preseason and training camp.

You missed the guy from Oakland that can play tackle or guard,

Nakamura will prove to be a better player than Reggie Smith. Bank on it.

Just stop, unless you're referring to ST's. Even Haruki's old coach just referenced his ST ability, and left it at that. That man is a liability in coverage.

Bruce Camble, I'm interested to see how he plays as the back-up RT I'd assume, Pollack as the back-up LG, and Bell as the back-up RG. With the way injuries hit our OL last season it will be nice to be healthier, and it seems a bit more athletic with Campbell's addition.

I'd like to throw out my X-Factor....Princeton McCarty (the scat back UDFA from Idaho) to start to show some things around mid-season.

Most think he deserved more playing time but unfortunately he was behind Ed Reed. I'm more optimistic about him than anyone else other than Tolbert.

In 2010 Ed Reed missed the first 6 weeks of the season. Tom Zbikowski played in 100% of the snaps in his place in weeks 1-5 and 50% in weeks 6.

Nakumara saw 43% of the snaps in weeks 1 and 2, 8% in week 3 , 20% in weeks 4 and 5, then 53% in week 6. So in reality Zbikowski was Reed's primary backup.

Last year Nakumara's role was reduced to basically nothing as he played a total of 39 defensive snaps.

When the Ravens had Dawan Landry, their top 3 safeties in playing time were Landry,Reed, and Zbikowski. Then last year when Landry went to Jacksonville, they acquired Bernard Pollard who took over Landry's role, leaving Nakumara as the 4th option at safety his whole tenure there.

So while I wish him the best I am certainly not holding my breath thinking he will be anything more than a special teams ace.

edit: Also wanted to add that the Ravens let Zbikowski walk in free agency this year(went to colts), so if they saw anything in Nakumara one would think they would have tried to keep him as a possible successor to Ed Reed

Oh well, I guess this is why getting info from fan forums is generally useless :(

Tolbert is the easy answer, but I think Nakumara could be a hidden gem and will really push for a starting job.

This is the way I am leaning. The guy has been under studying one of the best of all time.
