Tesla....

In such a vast universe how do us Earthlings continue to have the large balls to claim that we invented everything? I call it swagger!

The principles of energy have been exploited for too long now. Tesla also experimented with zero point energy which would permanently pull the cord on the power company since the energy would come from a box attached to the back of your house. Many people have tried and succeeded at duplicating the experiment but there is no way to regulate that type of power source either so...

Yup, one guy was going to put it on the market and thugs came and told him if he put it out they'd end him. The may have roughed him up too.

There were others whos equipment got taken away after they achieved zero point. One place to find this info is the "Thrive" documentary on youtube, they go into all the great technology we could have if not for the special interests.

I've always gotten the impression that Tesla was kind of like the Leonardo DiVinci of his time.

Imagination beyond compare, nuts, brilliant, and far ahead of his time.

Tesla went down some bizarre paths that led to nothing, he was a damned foreigner, and reviled by Edison who was/is a hero of mythical proportions in United States.

The result is that he is only now starting to be credited in the mainstream for the successes he did have, even if they were somewhat far and few between. Unfortunately, those successes are also being exaggerated.

Oh, how the pendulum swings.

Yeah, Tesla was an absolute genius of his time. There's actually a story that he went to Henry Ford, and told Henry that he could create an electric car that did not need to use a combustion engine. Ford told him that combustion engines are more likely to mess up, so people will have to buy more.

The only thing that stopped Tesla from being more recognized was that he fit the mad-scientist stereotype to a T. He was insane, a hermit, very socially awkward, and he scared people because of how intelligent he was.

This legend/myth (and that's exactly what it is) is part of the problem with Tesla's modern legacy. People are motivated by a variety of reasons to shoe-horn him in to their wacky conspiracy theories.

Here's the thing. That conversation between Tesla and Ford may have happened, but there's no way of confirming it. Thus, there's no reason to believe it took place.

But but but, I read it on the Internet. It even had an associated youtube video, so it must be true. :)

Fwiw, I have read some serious articles on Tesla, and it seems he was a brilliant man, but a little bit out there and had no clue as to how to market his ideas.
