Goodbye Huddle, I'm Disappointed In You

Recommended Posts

Charlotte, a city full of out-of-towners supporting the god damn Patriots, Steelers, and severely lacking in homegrown die hard fans, makes for a thin fan base. I remember the first day I found the Huddle. I thought AWESOME! Finally, a place I could go where people truly loved the Carolina Panthers.

Well, I've tired of what people on here consider a good fan. Everyone acts like the next damn

John Clayton as if the most insightful analysis of the linebacker situation shows how much you care. Or who can get the latest news fastest while carefully avoiding being number 2 cause then you are just a piece of dick. Or stupid sh*t like b*tch about how "mean" fans are in Atlanta and Philly. Waa waa.

To be fair, people can post some good sh*t sometimes. It's easily the best place to get information on the Panthers especially in Africa where getting on NFL.com is like trying to suck molasses through a coffee straw. Where I lose it is when comments are graded on how well they can remove any emotion and love for our team. When someone puts up a post asking to show some love for Steve Smith, the best player in the NFL, and the first 8 posts are about how hes not even the best WR in the NFC, NFC South, ok maybe the Panthers, there is something wrong with this place. You just can't take it, it bothers you because, hey, Steve Smith isn't really the best WR. So that's what you focus on instead of what a mutherf*cking badass he is and clearly the best player in the NFL. Some of you talk about being a fan like raising a child by pointing out its flaws so it can grow from its mistakes. The Panthers are the best team in the NFL because they are the Panthers and nobody else. Sorry if I didn't back that up with links.

Enjoy competing over fake pie with your amateur thoughts on Pickles' future. Meanwhile, I'm getting on youtube to see some Morgan highlights. Dude was a beast. Don't want to forget it.

P.S. Some of you guys find the hottest avatars and banners. I will never forget you.

Your first mistake was going to a message board and expecting everyone to share the same opinion. Most people on this forum bleed black and blue, and some are blinded by the colors.

The latter are the fans that don't care what other people say. The Panthers are the best team in the NFL or GTFO.

The former are the fans that will support our team through good times and bad, but aren't afraid to differentiate sh*t from diamonds.

I have been a fan of the Panthers since the day I found out Charlotte was getting an NFL team. I remember the night vividly. I remember the Observer article the next day. I remember winning the HoF game. I remember game 1 at Death Valley (I still have the ticket). Undefeated in Ericsson in year 2. I was in Houston for the Super Bowl cheering my face off. Call me a person with my orders out of line, but I was more upset about football being cancelled the weekend after 9/11 than the day itself (without going all Tinderbox on you).

All that being said, I still fit in the former category. Yes, Steve Smith is my favorite Panther ever, but calling him the best player in the NFL is subjectively asinine. I know it is the offseason and there isn't much to talk about, but starting a thread like that and like this one is asking for the tags to include Gif and Approved. I'd rather the Panthers have fans like you that support the team 365 (this year 366) days of the year than bandwagoners that hibernate til the team is good again. But I come to the huddle looking for an intelligent discussion about the team.

Most importantly however; digital keyboard phones suck and Happy Mother's Day!

On the real tip though, I had always fancied that Panthers fans were more intelligent than other fan-bases---especially the fan-bases of the Saints**** and Falcons. Now I am not so sure.

Have you ever been to a game?

Why exactly is it so much fun to trash someone online? I don't get it...

I don't think that it's so much about "fun" as it is about a level of insecurity (or even a certain level of cowardice). It's easy to hide behind an LCD and say whatever you want to say without any thought to any repercussions or any real consequences. It facilitates being an asshole without the threat getting your ass kicked.

If you are in Africa and on the Internet, you shouldn't be on the huddle you should be trying to scam people through emails written in broken English explaining to them that they have a grandfather that was a king and for the small some of $10K, they can get his millions.

I'm actually an even bigger asshole in real life, and do get in a lot of fights. So being an asshole online is just an extension of my manly essence.

OK, point taken. I amended my original thought. Fixed.
