I've been telling you guys that Captain will be the starter Week 1. I still stand by that. I don't want him to be but it's going to happen. They wouldn't have gave him a new contract like that if they didn't intend on using him and I don't see Hogan or Norman taking his spot, not in camp.

Captain ain't bad.... in Madden. On the field is a different issue entirely.

That said, I seriously wouldn't be surprised if he was in on the first defensive snap vs. Tampa Bay week 1. After 6' 2" Mike Williams schools him though, I think Norman or Hogan will get some playing time and maybe become the starter by week 2.

Cap'n didn't get a new contract, he just hit on some escalators. I'm leaning toward Hogan as our day 1 starter, or maybe Butler. All could change though when rosters get trimmed, but I really think the job is Hogan's to lose... And that's all based off of my uninformed opinion.

I agree with those that expect Hogan or Butler to start the season as #2.

Imo, if we start game 1 with Captain as #2, the offseason will have been a failure.

Captain has a great attitude, and I admire his perseverance, but he is not the answer at CB.

Yeah, it's going to be a good competition, I guess. I really wish that we would've signed Asante but thats done so we'll roll with what we've got. Although I'm not happy with Cap being #2.

Cap will always be a nickle cb. That's it. #3 material. Don't see why folks think he's #2 material.

IMO, Captain isn't even nickel material. If he's higher than #4 on the depth chart, the CB position needs more help.

Why are people completely forgetting about Darius Butler? I'd be willing to guarantee both him and Hogan beat out Munnerlyn and it'll be a battle between Norman/Captain who sticks as the dime corner. IIRC, Butler was starting over Captain anyway until he had to go on leave due to a family death.

I don't remember really, but I think Cap'n got the majority of the starts. Butler came in late off waivers and then had that family emergency, so he never really got a fair shake at the starting spot. When he did get his reps, he looked almost decent. But, almost decent > Cap'n...

Somebody else can come clear it up for sure but according to Pro Football Reference, Butler started 6 games for us.
