What do you expect from this or any first round pick

either start or make an immediate impact/get a lot of PT.

TD, D-will and stewart didn't get the start but they were used pretty heavily.

williams was the only one that wasn't used enough right out of the gate and should have been the starter.

50% success rate for starters might be true on most other teams but the panthers have have pretty much a 100% (since dan morgan was drafted in 2001) and i don't see that changing anytime soon. with the exception of our 2000 pick all of our 1st rounders this decade either started right away or played an immediate large role on the team. dan morgan was the first that we lost and he stayed on the team 7 years.

i expect a lot out of brown...either starting (which is most likely the intention of fox/hurney) or at least seeing a lot more than 3rd downs. he will be used and used often. it may be a lot of pressure but i don't think that fox/hurney would have made the move to get him if they didn't think he could handle it.

And the worst 1st rounder we have had this decade was Dan Morgan. And when healthy he had pro-bowl talent. Its almost impossible to predict Concussion injuries so all in all I think even then our FO did a great job.

that's part of the reason we haven't drafted a QB. fox/hurney wants people drafted in the 1st who can come in and start or make an immediate impact. that isn't likely going to happen with a QB. they save the later rounds for developmental picks.

Which is a bad policy.

No it's not, drafting a first round bust as a QB is a death toll for a franchise, pure and simple, general knowledge and something every fan should know. The amount of money we would have to pay a 1st round QB would cripple this team if he was a failure. Sure he could work out, but it doesn't happen very often. Don't know what's so hard to figure out...

Nothing is hard to figure out. You have to take the chances before you can find your franchise QB, first round bust or not. This franchise will never win a SB unless they find a franchise QB.

I never expect our 1st round picks to be probowl regulars or whatever, I just expect them to be solid starters and if you look at the success rate of 1st round picks in general, that's already quite an achievement. I think guys like Morgan and TD were solid 1st round picks. If Brown can get those kind of results, I'll be happy.

If you have no glaring needs and you have a first round pick I see no problem taking a QB. But if you need a DT or OL man then it is a waste to take a QB.

I never said anything about taking a QB this year. We should try and get a 1st next year so we can grab one of the many good QBs coming out.

I think the 2000 Ravens beg to differ along with the 2001 Bucs. While it is easier, the real strength on any team that wins it all is a very good D. I want a franchise Qb badly but he is right it is just to big a risk early in the 1st. For every Manning there are 5 or 6, Carr's or A. Smith's. Look how long it has taken the Texans to regroup from that and they still haven't got to the playoffs.

    • 38 seconds in tells me he is full of poo and is spinning for clicks. You know how they say in court, where if they lie once you can assume they are lying always?  To me is doing a pretty spiteful thing I think, by putting those words in someone's mouth. Unless he knows that is true. Which I doubt. An honest person would not have said that to Tepper, so he basically assaulting Canales. It is not Canales' fault that Young will not adhere to the the coaching he was obviously given. And of course I am referring to that Buffalo series and the very noticeable footwork change. Evidence that he had the opportunity to be a better player but reverted to his wonky ass 'techniques'. Because it is fuging hard not to. But that is still on Young for not getting that done. And unless he gets it done he is just a fraud. A wannabe NFL quarterback, playing at it. I mean NFL quarterbacks are kicking his ass, even the rookies.  If he works to change this steadily he may be able to get it ingrained in a couple more months. That is as optimistic as I can be for him.  Riddick though, I don't don't listen to sports talk any more except what youtube clips I like but I used to think pretty highly of him. This is pretty sad, to see this scapegoating.  I can put words into Canales mouth too: "Mr Tepper, I have a pretty good feel for working with these guys, and have had some luck with it. You know Baker pretty well. That's my work with him.  But I have to be honest, I'm not sure i can promise I can fix Bryce. He has many challenges. There are things we can do to help but so much of it is up to him. If he is willing to listen and work, I am sure we can make him a better QB. How good will be up to him."   blah blah blah blah
    • Can they play QB? And some stuff from Ride the Lightning, too?
    • When dementia gripped my grandmother (and eventually took her), we each spent time with her and would try to correct her to what was reality and what wasn't. It was very tough on my Dad who she lived with for as long as they could care for her.  It seemed like she had become detached from her own timeline and would slide up and down it wildly. As my Dad said, "somedays I'm me to her, somedays I'm my Dad, somedays I'm her father, somedays I'm just the guy who works here. I tried correcting her but it just upset her. I found out that the best thing is to just not correct her and let her live out where ever and whenever she is."  And I'm not going to lie, it gets tough and eventually they leave their own timeline and it becomes unmanageable. Hold on to yourself and the ones you love through it all. Prayers for you and yours, man.
