Football Gameplan's 2012 Draft Grades Video - Panthers

Great Video. I like the analysis. We all love Beason so its hard to give an unbiased opinion on where He and Kuechly are on the field. I'm kinda eh on the alexander pick. Thats one we'll really have to wait an see on.

I think Smith has some potential and will win a S spot.

Problem is both our S's are no good esp when it comes to tackling.

Alexander has some potential so im fine with the pick. Like most, just didnt like giving up a 3rd. But he might be worth it....

Norman def was a steal. If he was a tad faster he would be a 2nd round pick.

Thanks Big Rayzor!

If Kuechly has to play on the outside, I'd rather see him cover TEs.

Thats one of the big reasons we took Kuechly. He is extremely tall for a linebacker and has exceptional cover skills. We have to deal with Jimmy Graham, Tony Gonzalez and Kellen Winslow Jr. twice a year each. You can bank on him being the guy asked to cover them in clutch situations.

Kuechly is also more athletic (in terms of combine stats and whatnot) than Beason, so he actually may be more effective as an outside linebacker. We like to use a lot of 3 safety sets on defense, so running a 4-2-5 we will actually lose very little mid field coverage with Beason and Kuechly roaming about, as both are sideline to sideline players.

I love your videos. Make sure to push on your marketing and I hope your videos are monetized. You could make a couple bucks from all the content you upload. Don't give up your dream. The Internet is democratic and the cream will rise to the top. Keep it up.

ALWAYS great to have analysis from a non-Panther fan/ESPN analyst. They might play Beason and Kuechly at MLB equally in camp, just to see what is more effective (Beason having a dodgy Achilles now) but yea, great video. Czar, where do you rank their draft out of all 32 teams?

Also, do you get a counted view for embedded videos? If not, everyone watch on youtube, he gets paid for collecting view counts!

he only gets paid if he has adds which i believe he does. not totally sure though.

Beason was a OLB in college and started his days in Carolina outside, it is a more natural position for him in the NFL because Beason doesn't have MLB size at only 6-0 and 240 pounds. I could easily see the team moving Beason outside with Kuechly in the middle.

Thanks for posting the video.

Thanks CF96!! It does give you guys scheme versatility.. Excited to see the defense.

Overall great summary, I was a bit surprised you didn't mention the trade for a 2013 3rd and 2012 6th round picks in order to move up and get Alexander, which is my only issue with the pick.

As for safety needs, I think the FO is hoping that Haruki Nakamura from the Ravens and Reggie Smith from the 49ers will challenge Martin in training camp, and they hope Godfrey plays up to his contract, so I think they felt safety was addressed in free agency and weren't looking to draft one unless there was a lot of value BPA wise.

Safety could easily become a big need in next years draft if things don't pan out this year though.

In that case...Alexander might end up replacing Norwood (whom I like).. That's a steep price to pay.

Good stuff thanks OP... I think Norman is a steal. Don't have a problem with Alexander but I don't like what we gave up to trade for that pick

Thanks CatMan! You guys will like the way Norman plays!

Great vid thanks for sharing

Preciate that!

More knowledge than ESPN analysts

Thanks Car123! I always strive to be original, unbiased and true to my own analysis without the spin :)

Thanks CC!! I think Alexander will have the fan bullseye on his back!

Its a shame, but its true!

If you have the personnel, that 4-2-5 look is why the Giants defense can match up with a lot of passing teams...(except the Saints**)

Other than the Beason thing I liked it a lot. I liked the editing, your presence as an analyst. It seems like you're following your dream. Good luck.

Thanks Pepaw! Just flat out living the dream! But honestly, its this interaction with the fans is what makes this even more fun!

FP You're the Man!! Thanks alot! Don't worry..FBGP has a great plan in place ;)

    • He's turned into quite a gunslinger
    • Hey guys, remember when we won those meaningless games in 2010 and it cost us the #1 pick and the chance to draft Cam? Oh.... right I get that's more of an extreme example because it got us a HOF caliber QB.  But it's the general concept, you want to win late season games when you have the pieces in place to make a run the next season, we currently are not in that place. Herbert and Sewell are the ones I point to so much, because we literally lost out on 2 franchise different makers by 1 draft slot.  Give us those two players while we still have CMC, Moore, and the rest of the picks we gave up for Bryce, and we'd have been a legit playoff contender the last few years. Draft position matters in the NFL more than any other sport (other than the #1 pick in the NBA in a year with a generational talent).
    • It’s so crazy. If we had a shot for pick 1 and there was some generational player there then yeah maybe I could get behind the draft position argument. I’d say most GMs and coaches aren’t diving into the draft right now. They are trying to win games.
