I just want to be the first

First nobody is talking about it because the majority doesn't even know who he is. Sherrod Martin will be the best pick out of this years draft for our team. He will be perfect for the CB position we want in the Tampa 2. I hated Brown in tape as a 4-3 DE. But the pick we got him at he works in well as a rotational DE in the Tampa 2. He will take a few years to develop. Mock me...that's fine...but I'm pretty sure I'm the only one on this site that actually watches tape from an NFL team. By film I don't mean my TV or a ridiculous highlight film. Thatch not how you watch a prospect

Should we pay homage now or after your "Mel Kiper" prediction come true? :hand::sifone:

Go Panthers

we used a first for him..he better do more than just work and be a rotational guy..and i still would have took sean smith over martin.

As soon as we selected Martin, I wondered aloud in that famous Homer Simpson voice "I have no idea who that is." Shortly thereafter, I had wished he had walked to the podium to meet Roger Goodell, holding up not a Panther jersey, but a t-shirt saying "I'm Steve Smith's next victim".

Seriously, I hope he's awesome. But time will tell.

I already said Martin would be very similar to Bob Sanders... So, you aren't the first, and no, you aren't the only one who "watches film"... Get off your high horse...

Interesting note... The Sporting News Draft guide did not rank Martin as a Safety, nor a Cornerback, out of all the prospects in the draft (I guess someone left him out accidentally? I mean, they ranked close to 30 in each of those positions)... They did, however, succesfully mention his name as a possible good fit for the Panthers in the section dedicated to each teams' needs...

One thing is for sure, after all is said and done, nobody will forget Sherrod Martin...

    • The other draft picks have turned out pretty well. Brooks will too.
    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
