Bounty On Newton Was $5000

TCF do you have a link to the source that is repeatedly stating the NFL never informed vilma or the Saints** of the suspension?

Seriously, and please not a tweet by his teammate.

Yeh man, I posted the link in the thread from last night. At work and kind of busy.

His teammate has no reason to lie and no dog in this fight though. The link is in the ladder portion of last nights thread though.

I understand what you are saying and why you're saying it... But I disagree and here's why. The NFL is a professional business. It makes the League look bad when the players involved were notified on National TV. Did they know that they were facing suspension? Absolutely I just expect more from such a highly supposed "League Commisioner" than this. It's very unprofessional. I'm not saying to feel bad for the guys... And I'm not saying that they were necessarily "owed" anything based off of their actions. What I am saying is that at this level... Especially publicly, this was unprofessional and reflects badly on the NFL. That's all I'm saying.

I respect your opinion, but you do understand you are saying that players who had bounties on other players were treated unprofessionally correct? They lost all credibility with the lies they have told and do not warrant the respect you are stating they deserve.

I still hold the coaches and staff more accountable. While players like Vilma or whoever putting up money is despicable there is another angle that at least has to be factored in. Schlarath was talking last week about how when he played there were certain plays that the coaches required a cut block. If you failed to cut than it was a strike against your "grade" that could very well lead to a marginal player losing a job. There were likely unwilling participants who felt the pressure to be involved to an extent for job security. That leads to a gray area for me.

I agree, Payton should have been suspended indefinitely.

I will use this thread as my platform to make this ground-breaking declaration:

I hearby pledge zero dollars, that's right, $0, nada, to any Panther player who can knock da fug out of any Saints** player this coming season. Can I get some charity de-cleaters?

Wait. Didn't the NFLPA mention in a statement just yesterday that there were letters to each of the 4 players that they had read? Isn't that what started the dribble about there not being evidence to support the suspensions? How did they see the letters and the players did not??

After seeing the NFL’s decision letters, the NFLPA has still not received any detailed or specific evidence ...

https://www.nflplaye...am-Punishments/

Goodell has crossed his t's and dotted his i's on this one. I doubt they sent those letters using just a postage stamp. In this time of world wide social networks and such as TMZ, it is not surprising that the story probably leaked.

Vilma probably had the letter in his hand when he first saw it on TV. lol Give me a break. FAIL, Vilma, big time. No sympathy from me.

The rest of you, quit sounding like you belong on the Saints** board.

Hey, you know what else makes the nfl look bad?

A bounty program. They're making it clear that it is not tolerated and if they have to be assholes to make it clear to everyone in the league, then so be it.

The players refused to talk to the NFL about any of this.

So, the way I see it, the NFL gave'em what they wanted. :P

I know Newton is good and all (trust me, I get giddy whenever I see a youtube video of him that I've probably watched 100 times before), but is their defense that terrible that they really needed to put a bounty on a rookie quarterback only 5 weeks in to the season?
