Bounty On Newton Was $5000

Offered by Mike Ornstein, per this article from the New York Times: Dealmaker Leaves Fingerprints on Another Scandal

The first e-mail was sent to New Orleans Saints* Coach Sean Payton on Sept. 3 from the federal prison system’s minimum-security camp in Florence, Colo. It promised $5,000 for Saints* players who delivered hard hits on Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the N.F.L.’s season-opening game a few days later.

The second message, sent a month later after the writer had been transferred to a halfway house, pledged $5,000 for hits on Carolina quarterback Cam Newton when the Saints* faced the Panthers.

That would have been for week five of last season.

Pretty sure that was the second game. Didn't he do that in the Dome?

Yeah, I think that was the later game.

I wonder, however, if this would have been the game where Smith was told by a Saints* player that he had to go after his legs.

I do remember a questionable sideline hit on Smith, but I don't recall which game it was in.
