Early Thoughts On Our Weaknesses?

lol..my wife always laugh when I say 'we' like am a Panther. :)

Last year our defense was bad. Run or pass the other team went thru us. Most, media included blamed DT (though I read a great post here that it was more LB fault)..and Safety / tackling issues.

Our Special Teams sucked more then then Traci Lords.

Offense was good/ great (!!) but I felt our rushing still lacked the pizazz of old double trouble. I know stat wise we are solid - but isnt that due to Cam rushing all those TD's?

Ok - so now draft is complete.

Building up to the draft and thru it (thank God or in Richardson we trust) special teams was hit and hit hard! I feel GREAT about special teams and my only worry is Mare....and YES I am a Kisay fan so no one will do but him but DAMN. I have the same hope for Adams as I did for Robinson (another great thread here - you guys rock) or even Edwards. (Huddlers love to hate on Edwards but the fact is he is and always will be a QB..period....and yeah I do think he would kick ass as a QB (though not as good as Cam!)).

Special teams - check

Defense - check. We got everyone back from IR (though suprisingly I still havent heard Beason is back)..but still with Luke ...wow...its going to be special. My worry remains on the DB side. Friggin Brees and Ryan...sigh.....

Offense - omg....can anyone wait? I wish the season started....Dwill...Smith...Gettis...its going to be frackin awesome.

My wish???

Resign Shockey. The man is a god damn man. Sign him. I do like Olsen and Barnutter but Shockey is the guy I want.

Get a kicker. I am not happy with Mare. I dont care who they choose. I will stand proudly before the Huddle and eat that *ucking crow if whoever they get is worse then Mare but take the chance!

My question? yes- excuse the very long caveat...(red bull + vodka this Wed afternoon).....where will we need more help / yet to be addressed by our coaches?? (wife laughs again at the 'our' comment.).

:)

off the top of my head, i would say cb#2 and sherrod martin are the biggest weaknesses right now. With that being said i believe we did a great job of addressing those needs via free agency and draft. the safties we got from baltimore and san fran should be an immediate upgrade. Hogan and Norman through the past two drafts should move munnerlyn back to the nickle. The line should be more experienced aka better than last year so with an average defense this year we should be looking for the playoffs as long as our offense keeps progressing.

but yeah, cb#2 and Sherrod Martin

CB2

LT Depth - I don't have faith in anyone we have on the roster playing the LT position besides Gross. At least Wharton could slide over there and be serviceable. I saw one Depth Chart with Bruce Campbell as our backup LT, which freaks me right the fug out given his learning disability.

Yeah, those are most of mine as well. The LT issue, tho a rookie, Silatulo played LT in college. He is not projected to that position, but I bet he could be 'servicable' once he is on the team for a while. He is pretty athletic. At guard he is going to hurt people...will be fun to watch & no one will have to offer him a freakin bounty to do it.

Hard to say weakness becasuse in reality we just have youth, different from weakness. At least they can improve. I think there have been too many additions to really know where the trouble is going to be, especially when we are relying on a WR (Gettis), DT (Edwards), DB (Hogan, I include due to limited play due to injury last season), OLB (Davis), MLB (Beason), RT (Otah) to all come back from injuries and contribute enough to create a winning team, some of these players have not see the field for a while. Young DTs, who if they played like last year we will have a hard time.

You're right. Silatulo might be the best option, which is also very scary. Div II guy who is projected as a guard protecting the blind side. Injuries are a concern everywhere, but I can't think of a position that we have worse depth and would be harder to fill than LT.

Well unless Gamble goes down... then our secondary is completely fuged. Okay I'm just going to stop thinking about injuries now. Bad juju.

#2 CB

These are my primary concerns. Mare lost games last year. He has a boot but I'd rather have someone with ice in their veins and a big boot because I'm greedy.

CB I am curious to see how the competition goes. I had the same thought process last season and was disappointed though
