Posted this already but DWill is not the only NFL player who is angry. This could backfire on Goodell https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?original_referer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nola.com%2Fsaints%2Findex.ssf%2F2012%2F05%2Fnew_orleans_saints_other_playe.html&source=tweetbutton&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nola.com%2Fsaints%2Findex.ssf%2F2012%2F05%2Fnew_orleans_saints_other_playe.html

The Saints had the opportunity to get off even easier then the Pats, but they declined.

The Pats thing went public because the allegations were made publicly, so there was no way to avoid it. The Saints thing could have been handled very quietly with no punishment, but they decided to lie to the NFL about the existence of a bounty program and then continue it.

The NFL doesn't want any of these things to go public, because it hurts the overall image of the league. In the case of the Pats, they had no choice and in the case of the Saints they left them no choice.

...and why is it so hard for people to understand this concept?

In our legal system, if you plead guilty the judge is more likely to be lenient on you. If you plead not guilty and are found to be guilty anyways, then the judge is more likely to throw the book at you.

learn how to post twitter comments dumb ass.

Also, learn how to read. Goodell works for the owners. He represents the owners. He is the boss of the NFL.

The players work for the owners and Goodell.

You know, the owners? the filthy rich men who sign the paychecks for the PRIVILEGED players in the NFL.

If the players feel bad, they have every right to quit and go find a job with those degrees that I'm sure they worked extremely hard for.

Roger Goodell and the owners he represents honestly couldn't give a f*ck what the players think.

At the end of the day, for every one of these players there are 100 guys who would gladly take their place for the privilege of being treated so "unfairly".

Nothing against DWill, he's entitled to his opinion and he raises a valid point, I don't think the Pats were punished enough either, but the idea that players being upset about this could backfire on Goodell is laughable.

no, it's goodell's job to protect the owners at any cost.

Goodell's interests are with the billionaire owners. Period. Not with some athlete who probably can barely read.

It's why I laugh at this "concussion" and "protect the players" bullshit regarding head injuries.

Please. The only reason Goodell is enforcing a strict policy on head injuries and trying to improve game safety is so that the NFL and the OWNERS don't get the sh1t sued out of them.
