New Laptop

Recommended Posts

My wife has taken over my laptop because hers took a dump so I'm in the market for a new one. Don't need anything fancy as I would just be using it to surf the web and do homework. Has anyone bought one recently in the $500 range that they have been happy with?

Thanks! :)

If you want faster surfing/processing and don't need hundreds upon hundreds of HDD storage or a standalone GPU to watch 1080p coded video, then I suggest this

I've always disliked Dell, but that's just for desktops. They're pretty good when it comes to laptops, plus it has a pretty powerful Intel dualcore for the price. The 3 gigs of RAM is fine if you aren't gaming with the latest games on High Quality.

If you want a lot of storage space and an integrated GPU that isn't Intel while skimping on the processor, then get '

Honestly though, I suggest the first one, the Dell. Intel absolutely destroys AMD when it comes to making processors these days, and having a shitty processor can bottleneck your GPU, no matter how nice it is.

Why would you buy an insanely marked up laptop with an inferior OS?

Overpriced? Maybe, depends on what you are using it for. Inferior os? Lol.

I just bought an i5 lenovo ideapad with 6 gigs of memory and a decent video card for 6ish... I think it ended up being in $620. Seems like a pretty nice machine but ive only had it for 1 day.

I'm getting ready to trash my entire desktop set up in favor of a Lenovo w/docking station and dual monitors. I have this set up at work and life is easy with 2 gigantic widescreen monitors and I can take the laptop anywhere, leaving keyboard and mouse behind...
